I'm at a large agency, and most days we usually get the juniors and mid-levels out by 5:30. I'm usually out around 6:30-7:00.
We have our 7:00-10:00 nights-they tend to happen about 2-3 days at a time once every 3 weeks or so. Midnights are more rare-maybe once a month.
All bets are off for pitches, where 8:00-midnight is normal and usually includes some weekend work.
We have a couple clients where the creative teams are regularly burning until 9:00-10:00 on the day to day. I have little respect for creative (or account) leadership that allows their people to be abused like that as a matter of course. And the, "It's client driven, there's nothing we can do about it" excuse is complete horseshit to cover for shit client management, negotiating, scoping and staffing.
Depends on the person. Those of us with kids tend to leave close to 5 and then are back online working late in the evening when the kids are in bed. Those without kids tend to stay later (6-8pm) but are offline once they leave the office
If it’s slack 10:30 - 5:30
If we’re slammed 8:30/9:00 - 10
Whatever time I leave I feel like someone is judging. So fuck it.
If you’re the earliest person in you get a rep that allows you to leave early. If you are anyone else leaving before 6 gives you a bad rep.
Better questions are what time do they get there and what time do they actually start working. And more importantly...why is it allowed?
^ thank god I got out of big agency hellhole
“Art directors and designers tend to stay later”. Do their work take more time compared to copy writers? I am curious to see what u think about that.
My average time when not on a big big project is 5/5:30. If there's a big project I've been in the office until 7 or 8 at least three days out of that week.
7-8pm with an hour or 5 extra at home each night.
Our copywriters leave no later than 6:15pm.... the art directors and designers are a different story. Not unusual for them to work past 10pm. Maybe one night a week midnight or later.
I’m amazed how consistent this is with my own experience. Thought there’d be a lot more variety
6:00, pretty consistently
Usually 6:30, but sometimes 7 or 8. My AD stays the same amount of hours, sometimes less b/c she has a kid.
7-9pm is my normal leaving time.
7:00ish on a good day. 10:30ish on a bad one.
@TBWA1 9:00ish on a good day. 10:30ish on a bad one.
Not sure if it’s the case but some copywriters leave earlier because they can write from anywhere. Sometimes it’s better to get a change of scenery too.
I try to leave at 6. But I usually end up working about 50 hours/ week
Between 5:30-7 when I’m not super busy and 9-11 when I am.
@Senior Designer 1 For our creative team, the art directors and designers kinda get screwed by the copywriters. They finish their work late, and hand it over for design at the eleventh hour.
Ummm, I work from 10-3
