On maternity leave and making a lot of trades in Robin hood. I just got warned that if I make 2 more trades in the next week I'll be marked as a day trader and can only trade if I have $25k and up invested? What does this mean?? I literally have $66 in Robinhood since I use it to practice more risky trading 😅

It’s 4 trades within a 5 day trading window. This a rule established within the FINRA guidelines, so there’s no way around it other than having 25K in your account

If you enter and exit the same security up to 5 times within the same week (or something like that) you're considered a day trader. Because day trader's are considered sophisticated investors and you're required to hold at least $25k in the account. Otherwise you'll be locked out of the account for 30 days.

Thanks for the added info will make sure not to do this! I was selling partial shares of things in order to buy a full share so I could do limit orders, oops

Thanks everyone! So random but good to know!

Look up PDT and do not trigger it. Change your account from Margin to Cash if you want to avoid the possibility of triggering

I thought the pattern day trader rule only applied to margin accounts (ie Robinhood Gold)

Nope, day trading applies to all brokerage accounts

Yeah I just got off that list lmao

Happy trading!

You gotta pay to play. In this case, you need $25k to play

Is anyone here familiar with RSUs and stock options as part of divorce? My arbitrator was not and she asked us to hire an expert to get a valuation. She’s convinced I cannot take my portion in kind if we could not settle on the value and I don’t want to be forced to sell my half to Husband at whatever valuation expert provides today (RSUs and stock options are under Husband’s name). If they low ball I rather take the risk and take them in kind. Any advice would be helpful.

Debating credit card strategies for next year. I’m currently a digital nomad and “rent” and everything is put on travel cards. Currently have CSR & AMEX platinum.
