Don’t feel bad at all. The notice period is for exit memos. You should otherwise try to get a much-needed rest/break before the next job. Congrats and good luck
No, you shouldn’t be doing the same hours and you should leave at a reasonable time now. I think the associates are jealous rather than judging.

I probably billed 15 hours per week during my notice period. Just get the last of your work done and don’t commit malpractice. Those are your only two requirements.
When did you leave the office before? Leaving at 5pm when you used to leave at 7pm is fine. Leaving at 3pm when you used to leave at 5pm might not be perceived well.
Who cares if associates are judging you. What are they going to do, beat you up in the parking lot?
If you're on your way out, I'd expect you to be in the office more or less 9 - 5 instead of 7 - 7 or whatever you used to do.
I wouldn’t feel bad. I will say this, though, an associate helped me out on a deal above and beyond during his notice period and I REALLY appreciated it - I have very warm feelings for him (because it really is NOT expected) and I let all the partners know, so if there’s like one particular deal you think you could impress people with your dedication, consider choosing that deal to care about - but make sure it’s worth your while (with someone who will notice/appreciate it) and it’s high-impact, because you COULD leave a very good impression. But run of the mill grinding for grinding’s sake? No, completely expected and normal to DGAF.
I’ll echo the comments above and also say the other associates are probably jealous but understanding. The transition period is for preparing for the exit and getting some relaxing in. I ended up playing around a dozen games of chess a day during mine.
Congratulations btw!
As a few people have hit on here, make some extra efforts in select spots and you can go out on a high note with a super positive final impression. I’m in a niche area so it’s served me well as I’ve lateraled a few times and kept my reputation positive with my former firms
Everyone expects you to be checked out. Notice periods make you almost miss the old place
You’re leaving. Do not create more anxiety for yourself. Close out and head out.
They’re judging you for being in the office so much. Prepare your exit memo and relax for your new job. Ideally take a couple of weeks off and take a vacation to a tropical island.

FWIW my firm commented on my work during my notice period. Several oriole were taking vacations at the time and I didn’t kill myself but helped cover and continued working as usual. I believe I successfully departed with the bridge intact if not stronger for the future.
I will qualify that it was a boutique and I generally billed 8 hrs a day before notice and during so if you’re at a larger firm or billing 10-12+ def scale it back.
I’m in the same position as OP. Do you think I can just work remotely rather than coming into the office a couple times a week?

The partners didn’t speak to me once after I gave notice and I left them in a bad spot by leaving so I don’t think that bridge is intact, tbh. It was a great two weeks of doing the bare minimum in the peace of my own home though.

This is a while back now, but I build 0 hours during my “notice period.” I gave two weeks and my former firm cut it down to one day (day after I gave notice). Didn’t have time to do transition memos. The transition on my matters obviously didn’t gone well — unfortunate for the associates handling that, but just deserts for that partner.
The bridge burning can go both ways — but I’d say just try to be professional about everything.
I billed maybe 20 hours over my two week notice before going in house.
You’re leaving. It doesn’t make sense to take on work. Wrap up what’s on your plate and start handing it off.
I gave notice a few days ago and was told all I’m supposed to do this week is prepare transition memos ideally by this Friday and then be available for potential questions next week - no one will talk to me since I gave notice and no one expects any work from me. Thank god I’m remote because I can’t imagine awkwardly hanging around the office all day with basically nothing to do
You aren’t obligated to provide 2 weeks. For long vision purposes, don’t burn bridges, but that is different from being a shill. Use this time to gird your loins and get ready for the next adventure.
