Good morning, Salesforce! I know this is a pretty general ask but could anyone who works in Finance at Salesforce shed some light on work life balance in the org? How often do you find yourself working on the weekends? Do you actually get to use your vacation?
Took PTO for a week before start of a new project and SM calls me to not take and support a pursuit. Where do you draw the line to maintain so called N/W? Projects, its hard. No project this happens.
A friend is pushing really hard to recruit me coming in as a Manager at Deloitte but I have some concerns: 1. 5.5 weeks of PTO 2. Bonus payouts close to 40K 3. Base salary for managers starting out at $155 4. Good work life balance (I call BS on this one) 5. Great culture. No up and out culture? 6. Rank managers based on a scattered plot 7. $25 signing bonus Deloitte laid off a bunch of people last year and now are saying they had their best year ever? Any insight will be appreciated.
Crispin has layoffs a couple of weeks ago. They announced it at a virtual town hall. The CEO did the usual “good people, hard to see them go” routine. Then he pivoted to the fact that he had safely made it to his Swedish vacation home and proceeded to walk around with his laptop and show it off to everyone.
What is a good gauge a team is understaffed? I’m on a Managed Service team where all 4 PMs have 3-6 projects running simultaneously. No one ever takes PTO because their work would have to be split up and handed off to the other PMs. I get working hard and having enough work to fill your day, but should the entire team be running at full capacity at all times?
My clients asked me if I can work during my vacation in Mexico. They approved my vacation arrange three months ago. And they are asking me one day before I left? Seriously?!
Took PTO to make it a four day weekend...first few hours back today and I already feel stressed out, anxious and like I want to quit. Burn out or just advertising?
Spinoff question... I know FMLA technically only covers you if you've worked for 12 months at your employer but has anyone actually had their employer say "sorry you we only here for 10 months so you can take your two weeks of accrued vacation, after that we'll expect you back." ? Since FMLA is unpaid anyway, I would imagine most employers would at least let you have unpaid time off.
Consultants in their respective federal practices - are you on extended holiday? Or are there still projects that are actively being worked on
Is there an audit to see if you actually charge vacation while taking vacation. Couldn't you schedule vacation and just charge G&A? I would never risk it but curious how that works.
What would you do if you had 2 weeks of bench time or vacation right now? Go to India to meet family or roam around US by yourself
What is your PTO policy at your firm?
So, it's my birthday today. I don't have very many good memories associated with it, so it tends to be a pretty shitty day. Same with most major holidays. How do you cope with holiday-linked trauma?
EY Parental leave question: how many weeks were you actually out? When I took my leave 3 years ago, I counted total of 21 weeks of leave. That’s including one firm winter holiday week. I remember I initially thought I would be back after 16 weeks, but then in the middle of my time off I got an email from Leave Team with the breakdown and it actually was 21 weeks. Can someone who took leave recently tell me the actual number of weeks?
Not counting the unlimited PTO folks, how many vacation days do you have? Trying to figure out what’s a fair ask when more money’s not an option.
<3 AA .... Just finished an overseas ( India) vacation trip in Business Class for $87.91 and 137K points . Anybody done less than that ? Airlines and Miles please ....
In California, employees are entitled to paid sick leave. Does anyone know why interns/temp/part time workers in get paid sick time but full time employees have to use PTO? Is this a Public Accounting or just an RSM thing?
I’ve been totally buried in work for the last 2.5ish months and it’s taken a toll on me. I’m feeling very burned out, to the point where my productivity has tapered off over the past two weeks and I’m no longer able to bill the hours I want. I genuinely try, but at a certain point each day (usually around 6.5 hours) I just feel like I can’t do it anymore. My family is urging me to take PTO to recharge, but I’m too scared about losing more hours to actually do it. Does anyone have any advice?
we are a (burned out) married couple and our kid is in daycare until 6. what do you suggest that we do on a friday afternoon that is romantic and fun ?
When did you BUY your own first luxury watch worth more than $8k? Just curious to know your Age/Salary/watch/price of watch when you bought it!
ATT just put a $100 collection on my credit report. Score went down 50 points. How can I fight this off. I do not owe them!!
Anyone know of opps for someone with 10+ YOE in sales strategy and operations. Exp includes Leading business/digital transformations focused on BPI, go-to-market strategy & channel optimization. Heavy data/analytics exp focused on customer. Candidate has an MBA.
Has your company or agency taken steps to promote diversify in hiring? It seems that all the major agencies made posts or had racial sensitivity training but the momentum behind BLM has died down and so has the push for inclusion.
Took PTO starting last Monday for a family trip (got canceled bc of covid but kept the days). I’ve worked 8 hours ever day and will Monday and Tuesday of this week. Is it fair for me to be extremely annoyed? There was no talk about getting my work covered and my boss just assumed I’d still lead any meetings I own. Not sure how to handle this 😩
Good health insurance plan suggestions anyone?
Can we just get rid of the typical job interview?? I feel like we would all benefit from just having a conversation about the position and the candidates skill set/experience w/o all the behavioral questions crap!
How much notice is required before taking parental leave at BCG? Is there something required per rule or is it more just best practice to give 60/90 days notice to give folks time to plan/schedule around it?
SO has been an art teacher for 5 yrs, looking to get out of the classroom. Just completed a Masters in Org Leadership with specialty in Proj Mgmt. What’s a good role for that Exp and Edu combo?
Recruiters are telling me positions in London are considered a higher role in other regions. Example, an Associate here, is a Sr. Associate in N/A. Senior Manager —> A Director. True?
DTE is telling me that I am not authorized to expense $3k worth of expenses. I'll sort it out through traditional means, but 🙄
I am planning to Boomerang to EY within 6 months. Does anyone know if the paternity leave policy kicks in on day one or after a year of joining back for boomerangs?
What is the average salary for Senior Consultants for Consulting roles in EY UK.. I wanna know the salaries for Tier 2 ICT visa holders!

Deloitte is to consulting what KPMG is to accounting. The rest of the big 4 are the Grant Thorntons of consulting. Don’t @ me.
Best approach to boomerang? Looking to go back to ACN; been with Deloitte since Jan. Overall the culture isn’t a fit and think 6 months is a fair time to explore
What’s your best first day of school lesson? Any cool icebreaker games? How do you start the year?
