I quit consulting because I was on the bench for four months! I want to learn as much as I can in my youth years rather than binge watching Netflix. So I met with the partner, explained the situation and gave in my 2 week and headed out to a job where I learn something every single day with zero bench time. That's just me! I don't mind having bench time in my 50's, but certainly not in my later 20's
"No Mom, it's not an actual bench"
"Yes Mom, it means that I still have a job."
"No Mom, I'm not going to have to move back in with you"
"Yes Mom, I'm sure Dad wouldn't mind it either"
"Stop worrying Mom. THIS IS WHY I DON'T SHARE EVERYTHING WITH YOU!"
"Love you too - please remember to make me my special mac n cheese this weekend"
My friend said I was between jobs when I was on the bench. Like no, honey, just between projects. Still have a job π
On the bench and am busier then ever.... use the time wisely
I wonder what they'll say when your next project is a 20 hour day hell on earth πΆ "what the he'll kind of a job is that? " π
Excellent POV sc2. I am proud of you. That shows a lot of maturity. I kinda like sa1 too. At least on the bench you can do other things if the pressure to be staffed doesn't make you crazy. I provides some respite care for a friend's elderly mom twice a week while on the bench. It was perfect timing.
Lots of Managers on the bench at PwC as well.
Hehehe! Love parents
Lol life π
You need to work harder on projects then
All those ok bench and first year associates, watch how they trim the fat by showing you the door.
Pa dum... just got a note of someone on our bench getting let go... :(
Hate to break it to you all but this much bench is a sign the firm/industry is struggling. Not normal in years past.
Samesies.
Yeah it can become quite frustrating. I often wonder why I'm doing this if other jobs aren't like this.. π
Lmaoooo I wish I didn't feel the same way as you cause I know it's bad π but *shrugs*
@SC2 what do you you now?
Why not meeee? Enjoy the bench!
LOL @ SC1 and D1. Doing the beach wrong
Or leaving... never know with these things...
So basically you're just doing what lazy af Managers/Senior Managers do on the day-to-day
Agree with the Strategy& 1 post above. Consulting is going through a crappy period for a while.
