How do you measure bench strength?
Hello fishes, I joined Nagarro on 24th of August. But still no project is assigned yet. Basically I am on bench. Now I am about to get an offer from ServiceNow. I really wanna join ServiceNow as it's a big product based organisation and the competition is really high compared to Nagarro. ServiceNow is giving me a joining date of 1st October. As I am still on bench, will I get released by Nagarro soon ? Because no project is allocated to me.

Larsen & Toubro Guys , Please advice me on below scenario. Suppose we have offer of Company A of 10 LPA ,later we receive call from Company B then they will ask Do you have Offer in-hand? Now my question is , do we need to tell them that I have offer OR let all the round get complete ?
Thought behind asking this question is, in first call if we tell them that I have offer then they might not go with next rounds.

Op, then blow it off but don’t come here complaining about the consequences...this is what I’ve read in your post:
- I had no work to do
- MD offered me work
- MD didn’t consider my needs when sending me work
- I was inconvenienced by a senior member of my firm
- 😭 😭 😭
As a millennial, can I ask that you not be a millennial stereotype?
Number one rule is communicate... if it came towards EOD when you were expecting earlier just say "thanks for sending, I have to work on something else at 5pm ET but will get started and complete it tomorrow AM."
Or get ahead of it when you agree and say you'll only have availability during the business day.
So many responses in this thread showing exactly what’s wrong with this profession...
Not a test, it’s inconsiderate
Accenture rocks. Hasn’t changed a bit has it.
A3 is my worst nightmare of a manager or even coworker.
And sorry but I think it’s inconsiderate considering that I have plans made and work during the bench should be within reasonable hours. Especially since I don’t get a charge code for this stuff
1) Didn’t follow up because MD never gave a timeline. Expected this to be a weeklong effort, not gonna waste his time sending emails. 2) Sorry forgot there was a rule that you can’t complain on FB... that’s literally 50% of the content 3) Quit acting like a tough, robotic cog. You’re gonna burn out before I do
That’s crazy! That MD sounds like he may be super busy.
Unlike you.
M2 really? Have you done that with your teams? Ask them to help you and when they say yes just go radio silent for 5 hours?
Of course OP shouldn't think that beach time is a vacation but to put no onus on the leader is really letting him/her off the hook. It's inconsiderate, not a travesty but yes inconsiderate. Amazing how quickly we turn on each other rather than defend our peers. Everyone becomes a corporate shill when they're on the outside looking in.
Whine whine whine. Because you’re on the bench doesn’t mean you’re on vacation...
Actually, A3, there are plenty of times where senior people work exclusively on BD. In fact, it’s expected. It’s why MDs frequently have chargeability targets below 50% while analysts/consultants are looking at 80-90.
More than that, though, you’re changing your story. First you’re up in arms because “this work gets done at night,” as though OP’s problem is not being flexible. Now you’re saying “oh it’s just because he didn’t follow up that afternoon.” Those are two different philosophies.
Honestly, I’ve had plenty of busy days where I knew I needed help/input from someone else, but I didn’t get around to asking them because I was ... busy. In those cases, an email from that person would not have helped. And when I don’t get around to asking until after 4, you bet I’m aware I probably won’t get it until sometime the next day. And I make that clear in the ask that I understand that. If it was so important to get it done by EOD, the responsibility is on *me* to prioritize it to delegate it out effectively. And if I fail at that, guess who’s actually working late ... me.
It's a test. Better get on it.
It’s 1:30pm Pacific, that’s NOT EOD....
4) the downtime I get on bench time makes up for all the long hours that I ghost during projects which I don’t complain about
^ agreed
M2 and A3 sound so annoying
I wonder if all the people ganging up on OP react so enthusiastic when they get urgent last minute requests and they have plans for EOD...
It’s not even 5 on the east coast...
Wow A3 you're a senior person at the firm? How utterly disappointing your level of detachment from reality
