Hi All,
Looking to make the move from working in industry to big4 and was curious as to what level and pay I might be worth?
I have 10 years experience out of uni, as well as completed CPA and MBA. I have a experience in managing entire finance function of small/medium entities, but most notably solid corporate finance experience/strategy leading refinance exercises, debt raising, hedging/treasury strategy etc…Would be looking for something in deal advisory / M&A / CFO advisory etc….thanks Deloitte EY PwC @

You can definitely negotiate their raise. Don’t just take what they throw at you. But yes, your biggest increase will be as a free agent.
Even so…it’ll be nice to take the promotion title so you can officially start demanding ACD salaries.
I got a 30% bump when I got promoted - its possible at the right spot!
You need to leave to see anything significant.
I was afraid that was the answer. Really like my agency. I’ll give it a bit more. Sooner or later I’ll have to leave
Way easier to negotiate at an independent shop than a holding company
They don't care though^. They know if they make an exception for one person it can disrupt their whole compensation model if word gets out.
You really don't have any leverage to negotiate a promotion. When they promote you, you will be new at the role and getting adjusted to your additional responsibilities.
Counterpoint - most people get a promotion after they’ve basically been doing the new position for a year. They got an ACD at a senior rate for months.
I used to be the person telling you to get that cheddar. Now, with hindsight, I’ll tell you that an agency you really like is really rare. Ride that out while you can. Find the people you can talk to and see what they can do and how you can set yourself up to make what you want sooner rather than later. Advocate for yourself gracefully and let them know why you deserve it. You got this.
I was not satisfied with my offer when I was promoted and successfully negotiated a significant raise (over 20%) without leaving my company. Be honest, firm and persistent. Don’t leave a job you love for a paycheck that’s not even promised.
