Once you get a lateral offer, do you still keep interviewing? I’m still waiting for conflicts to clear but I also don’t want to rock the boat by interviewing elsewhere still.

Is the interview for a job you would potentially take over the job running conflicts? You’re entitled to go through the process, vet firms, and find the best fit for you. I would advise against burning bridges during that process. But you can always tell firm B that you have another offer that you must decide on soon, so if they want you they better move fast. Also sometimes timing just doesn’t work with a particular firm but interviewing with them today may set up an opportunity years from now if you make a good impression.

Thank you! I will likely use what you just said in my response to them! I had the interview scheduled before the offer came through but I’ll definitely politely decline. Thank you!!!

Stop after you accept the offer is the best advice. If you accepted the offer out of desperation, and you’re not happy with it, then practically speaking it doesn’t make sense to stop.

That’s what I figured. I’m at a firm that’s toxic and I do want to get out— but I also am very very happy with the offer and would pick that firm once conflicts clear. Mainly paranoid about the conflicts lol

I’m sort of in this situation. I have an offer from a great firm, and have 7 days to accept. However, I was in the first round of interviews for a firm that pays way more and seems like a better career move. I told the interviewing firm that I had received an offer at the other firm with a timeline, and they ramped things up. I have two interviews today with the other firm and hope to have that offer by the end of the week. Basically, I am still interviewing but did not accept the other offer yet.

Having interview fatigue. I quickly run out of Qs because these firms aren’t giving very different answers or I’m asking Qs I know the answer to. As background, I litigated for 5 years for a few firms (couple biglaw) before clerking, so I’m familiar with the interviewing firms from experience and word of mouth. It’s tough to keep asking the same stuff when I’m interviewing with so many partners at each firm. Recs for good Qs for a mid/senior lit associate with regional/biglaw firms?

The podcast is conversational, not formal interview style. DM if you have a story to tell, or if you know someone who does!
