One of my executives thinks he is being endearing by calling women "Baby" "Gorgeous" "Sweetie" and he calls men "handsome". I have had multiple complaints against him from female employees and vendors. Does anyone know of any good training courses or advice that can help in this scenario?

First step: tell him. Direct and clear feedback, with expectation that he model the behaviors that map to the culture you want. Assuming that does NOT include trite, objectifying gender-based diminutives. Then, get him training and coaching. But I’d say that the missed opportunity so often is taking a stand and issuing repercussions to senior people who are some of the worst offenders.

It's not hard to believe. This is how some people talk. He may not even realize he's being offensive. If he hasn't been told directly, HR needs time deliver the message. In this day and age, those "terms of endearment" simply can NOT be used. Period. I'm from Maryland, where everyone used the term "Hon". As a college student, a couple decades ago, I was a waitress. Frequently, I called customers both male and female Hon. Without even thinking out it! My manager pulled me aside and brought this to my attention. This moment of self awareness was profound. Of course some people might take offense. How could I be so blind? I stopped immediately.

it's hard to believe in 2020...you may want to put a "warning" in writing

My mother no longer has money to pay for her family phone plan with t-mobile for herself or her kid (messy divorce, dad is in contempt of court) . However, we are grandfathered into a plan allowing cheap additional lines with unlimited text and calls, and up to 4 gb data. I was thinking to add lines for single people I know who are paying like $50+ a month, and charge them $25/ month. This would offset the cost of her and my brother's line (I can pay for mine). Any advice?

How did those with kids agree on baby names. The name my wife wants for our child is my best friends ex girlfriends name (bad breakup about 2 years ago). I can't see the name without thinking of this horrible person bc it's not that common of a name. Am I unreasonable for veto'ing this name?

Is there such a thing as “trickle-up economics?” It seems to me that if everyone had decent healthcare, wages, environmental protections, affordable child support, better education, etc., they’d have more buying power and the whole economy would benefit. Is this a thing?

My husband has family that are driving up to spend about a month in the area where we live. He says they will want to visit us as we had moved to a new place. I’ve been overly cautious since we have a baby and have pretty much stayed at home. I do not want them to come but my husband says this will put a strain on his relationships with them.

Child care costs in NYC. Who’s up on them?Having a kid soon and somewhat freaked out about the $$s. Heard nannies are $20/hr and daycare can be $2500/mo. Seems insane.
