One of my roommates has been trying (unsuccessfully) to kick me out of my apartment and back to my parentā€™s house because I have COVID and itā€™s screws up with his ability to go into his office apparently (heā€™s even vaccinated). Anyone else face something similar?

Even if you stay in your room or left to your parents (where you would now expose them to risk), your roommate should still quarantine so shouldnā€™t be going into the office either way. They are not at risk of being exposed and if theyā€™re going in, and are asymptomatic, they are putting their work colleagues at risk.

like

If you are already known to have covid, it is too late. Your roommate has already been thoroughly exposed to covid from you since before the onset of symptoms. Just ride it out where you are. Moving will just expose more people.

like

If you have covid, you should get out temporarily. Donā€™t spread it to your roomies unnecessarily! If in NY you can get a free hotel- other states have some similar programs worth looking into.

like

Are you paying rent? Is your name on the lease?

If so I'd tell him to kick rocks

CDC guidance is that if you have the vaccine and donā€™t have symptoms, no need to quarantine even if exposed.

like

Which is why Iā€™m so incredibly confused

like

Why doesnā€™t he just move home if he has the issue?

like

I treated my apartment as a ā€œsafe havenā€ if I was ever infected because I knew he was vaccinated. I had zero idea it would affect his work life since he spends only like 25% of his time in the office anyway. If i had known, perhaps i would have acted differently

You did it to yourself by going out for drinks.

I donā€™t agree with your roomie either - if you guys had set the norm then he had agreed to it a la negative consent. Not knowing what you guys did - but still irresponsible

Omg this JUST happened to me this past weekend and I posted about it in the Women in Consulting bowl... except my roommate wanted me to go stay in a hotel so she could have a birthday party at our apartment. The audacity of people šŸ˜

I feel covid brings out the crazy in roommates

If I donā€™t get promoted this year, I prob wonā€™t next year bc I will take a lot of maternity leave. Need some advice here.

Neither my husband nor I are good with change and when my husband and I went for the ultrasound he nervously asked "she's too sick to eat anything other than her vitamins and water, is it ok for her and the baby to go without?" Our doctor just smiled and replied "don't worry, baby takes" I don't know why but that was so funny to us. It kind of became our mantra as we navigate and move our life around that "baby takes," its made it feel more Us vs Change rather than Me vs Him. Thought I'd share

How much stock do you put on benefits? I have two offers with stark differences in benefits. Job 1: role I want, but benefit sucks (2 weeks paternity leave, 20% coinsurance). Job 2: role is okay but higher level and great benefits (16 weeks paternity, 0% coinsurance, 5 more days of vacation). Total comp is the same though. I wonder if I should just focus on role but Job 2 is a large company, so I can move around after 2-3 years Iā€™d expect. Thoughts?

I'm actively looking for a job change in a profile completely different than what I'm doing currently.
My manager is sending me on-site and this will interrupt my interviews and preparation also.
And by that time if I receive any offer letter, I don't know what should I do?

Shall I reject the on site opportunity or go with it and reject the new offer?
