One of my roommates has been trying (unsuccessfully) to kick me out of my apartment and back to my parent’s house because I have COVID and it’s screws up with his ability to go into his office apparently (he’s even vaccinated). Anyone else face something similar?

Even if you stay in your room or left to your parents (where you would now expose them to risk), your roommate should still quarantine so shouldn’t be going into the office either way. They are not at risk of being exposed and if they’re going in, and are asymptomatic, they are putting their work colleagues at risk.

If you are already known to have covid, it is too late. Your roommate has already been thoroughly exposed to covid from you since before the onset of symptoms. Just ride it out where you are. Moving will just expose more people.

like

If you have covid, you should get out temporarily. Don’t spread it to your roomies unnecessarily! If in NY you can get a free hotel- other states have some similar programs worth looking into.

Are you paying rent? Is your name on the lease? If so I'd tell him to kick rocks

CDC guidance is that if you have the vaccine and don’t have symptoms, no need to quarantine even if exposed.

Why doesn’t he just move home if he has the issue?

I treated my apartment as a “safe haven” if I was ever infected because I knew he was vaccinated. I had zero idea it would affect his work life since he spends only like 25% of his time in the office anyway. If i had known, perhaps i would have acted differently

You did it to yourself by going out for drinks.

I don’t agree with your roomie either - if you guys had set the norm then he had agreed to it a la negative consent. Not knowing what you guys did - but still irresponsible

Omg this JUST happened to me this past weekend and I posted about it in the Women in Consulting bowl... except my roommate wanted me to go stay in a hotel so she could have a birthday party at our apartment. The audacity of people 😭

I feel covid brings out the crazy in roommates

I have a brief resume gap from near the beginning of covid but have been at a new employer for >1 year. I’ve been asked about said gap during in-house interviews, but it’s generally been cursory and I give the explanation agreed upon by former employer. Was pressed a bit harder recently by being asked “will x former employer confirm [the story]?” Is this in and of itself a bad sign? Are they trying to catch a lie?

I got sick with what I at first thought was stomach bug last Sunday (vomiting, fatigue, then crazy chills and body aches). Lasted 1 day. My nose was also a bit congested, so went to get a pcr on Monday and got a positive result. Tested again at 2 diff places on Wed - 2 negatives. All pcr. Had no symptoms since Sunday. Has anyone had something similar happen to them? Was it just false positive (everyone’s been saying that almost never happens), or just super mild case of Covid?

My daughter had a private school visit yesterday with a school we’re interested in where the kids go in small groups with a teacher to play. At first we thought it went great she said she had fun. After asking more questions we found out she got in trouble because she wanted to do something else during story time. How much could this impact her getting accepted? This is our first kid in school (pre-k) so not sure how everything works.

I’ve worked at my center for 3 years now and we always do something for birthdays. Last year we didn’t really do much bc we were still figuring out covid. His ex of 4 years had a late term abortion without telling him and told him when he found her in bed with his really good friend. He’s finally improving psychologically

Kind of aggravated with the example male leadership is setting right now with regard to parenting at CV. At least 5 men in leadership have had new babies in the last month and it seems like some have taken no time off or only the bare minimum. We have 12 weeks and should be encouraged to use it! If leadership isn’t taking advantage of their own policy, what does that say to the rest of the staff? In my perspective, this is likely further contributing to the gender disparity in CV leadership
