Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

You do what you have to do to pay the bills
Or get laid
Depends on the situation. I understand in her case because the entire group was laid off. If she was targeted because she was pregnant (even under the guise of performance based) then I would suspect she would have thought twice about coming back.
If I needed a job and they were hiring, then yeah, I would.
Yes but I would negotiate the highest pay as if I will not be on partner track. I don't personally know a single boomerang who came back to my firm at a SM level in my office and who was then promoted to partner. (I do know boomerangs who came back as a partner.) So if I were her, I would negotiate EVERY year for my pay.
No if she just wanted to pay the bills I would have gone to private for higher pay and work life balance for the kids. Seems to be chasing partner track imo
