Yeah he’s a sorry big 4 accounting soul. Strongly disagree with everyone who says it’s bad to quit just before or during busy season. I just quit to go into an analyst role at a PE shop and my partner and SM/directors all seemed genuinely impressed and happy with me. They recognized the good opportunity for me rather then thinking about themselves.
You quit - we don’t give a F about you any more unless we think you’ll be useful down the road - what did you want? A big Party and tears? You know how many people someone has seen quit in our tenure? Also you are just an associate - check yourself
To all of you citing busy season... note that OP’s title is Advisory associate and thus they may not share the same busy season
You are dead to them lol
Very.
People quit. That’s why Sr Mgr is getting paid the big bucks because they need to deal with situations like this. Unprofessional. I would be more passive aggressive but would still talk to you. Glad when others have the opportunity to grow
Love all the audit anger though lol
When I left PwC, all the Directors and Partners acted VERY unprofessionally. After my formal resignation, none of them acknowledged or spoke to me. Completely ignored me for 1.5 week. Then, a 1 hour transition meeting. That was it.
Everyone was waiting for the manager to setup a goodbye lunch which he never did. My colleagues decided to take me out to lunch which my manager (MD) refused to go. We went to lunch and never returned to the office. So, after 5 years, no goodbye, no thank you, no good luck, no handshake. That was how Big 4 management is like. Everyone is just commodity, they come, they go.
I agree with RSM1, you are dead to me. It was super unprofessional of you to quit this close to busy season.
Lol you check yourself SM1. I work on a very small team where only one person has quit in 8 years so maybe you shouldn’t assume everyone with the same title as you has walked the same path because you are completely off the mark. Douchebag.
You quit during busy season. You probably totally screwed them over. Not saying I don’t blame you - you have to do what’s best for you - but I don’t blame your SM either. They’re probably pissed. Im in this position too (someone quit this week) It sucks!
It’s not busy season for us. Our busy season ended at year end and I was considerate enough to wait it out!
Advisory is very different from audit as you’re constantly bouncing around to different projects with different leadership. There’s a chance your SM didn’t even know you put your notice in
Yes
If you expect SM to check their feelings at the door, I recommend that you do the same.
Well did you sit down with the SM before putting in your notice to tell him/her that you were going to? Kind of shitty of you to quit without telling first.
^^^This. You want acknowledgement from someone that you sent notice to on a small team at that and didn’t have the decency to have a conversation. Go figure.
You’re a dime a dozen OP - don’t let the door hit you on the way out
BT1 I intended to, but the partner conferenced called the team (all managers except for me) immediately after giving notice. Some other details I’ll leave out but, yeah I would 100% expect management to acknowledge an employee that leaves. I had random people in the office come by and wish me good luck or say hey it was nice working with you take care. I don’t care in the least on a personal level but was really surprised that manager would act in what I consider a really unprofessional manner. It’s not about me or my feelings more so about this person’s character.
Petty gonna petty
