One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important.

For some reason, I read Bertrand Russel as Russell Brand . . . and the quote still made total sense.

I’m an L3 SWE — up for promo this cycle with strong ratings.

I’m confident that the SWE career isn’t for me — not as an IC or as a manager. I want to be doing more high-level business/product strategy work and eventually manage people.

I’ve been doing a 20% project as a PM and have discussed ladder transfer with my current L6 PM Manager and a GPM. Need the promo first.

Hey all,

Do anyone know the salary range of band 8 in Cisco ??

I receive RSU every year and a portion vests every year. What is the best way to manage the tax implications on these? I tried moving it to 401k to avoid taxes but was told I could not do that. What do most people do with these?

Seattle Salary?

I'm a civil engineer with 2.5 years experience in the water industry with an EIT.

I'm interviewing with a company for the Seattle area and moving from a lower cost of living area. Glassdoor is guessing around $120,000 which seems high to me when one of my friends in the area is making $84,000 (same field and experience)

What is a fair pay I should be asking for?

I am a deputy manager with 8 years of experience in retail banking operations CTC is 5.64L, now HSBC global services is offering 70% hike, however, the grade will be assistant manager. Should I accept the offer? Would degrading the designation from deputy manager to assistant manager be a mistake? Please suggest.

Hi Everyone, I am seeking an opportunity in the Digital Marketing domain. I have been working in this domain for about 3 years now. During this stint, I have worked both on a freelance basis and full-time to get as much hands-on experience as I could. I have good experience in SEM as well as paid socials ads. Along with this I have also worked on SEO side on a few websites. Let me know if anyone here can help with something relevant, will really appreciate it.

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

My co-worker is so resentful and competitive because I was promoted over her last year which caused a demotion on her end. People in the company still go to her for things that should be for me but she rarely corrects them. Shes still involved in the company too in a way that allows her to know secrets that I should know about but never do. I technically am above her within the company but this is how things are. I just do my job and try to not let it bother me but it does. Any suggestions?

If you made it to a 2nd interview and just got fired from your current job, should you still disclose that you no longer work at the company in the interview, even though you applied while you were still employed?

Contract flow downs question. We are selling equipment to Company X so that they can sell to Company Y. Company Y is trying to push some owner flow down provisions to us. Our initial contract with Company X doesn’t include those flow downs. Would you push back? Is that standard/necessary for flow downs to go that far? Any insight is helpful.

Need some guidance!

I have an in-house offer. $200k base, 25% target bonus and 25% equity grant. I am currently a rising third year in biglaw.

My recruiter claims that if I take the in-house position, she’d expect that in 3-4 years my base salary would increase to the mid to high 200s, with target bonus and equity each increasing to 40-50% of base.

Is this realistic or is she blowing smoke?

As background, this offer is at a young but rapidly growing PE firm in TX.

I have an oral offer to work for a small non-profit in DC for $150k and we’ve discussed start dates, but they have stalled in getting me an actual offer letter. I’ve now received interest in my application to work for a larger non-profit in a more senior role. Any ideas on whether I can or should stall the process with the smaller company so that I can optimize my chance to get a better job with the larger one?

Coming up for review soon and have been working for 6 month after an extended leave. The company was supportive but as a result of the leave I have not had a raise in 2 years. Any advise on how I can make up for the lost raise?
The company’s raises have been historically small so I’m not sure what to do to get a higher then typical raise.

I'm in the job market and was wondering anybody ever hold a contract manager position? They seem well paid and legal adjacent some require lawyers. If so how did you pitch yourself?

Any wine have advice for giving notice from firm to in-house? Just started a few months ago but got a dream gig that just dropped on my lap

Looking for investor/VC intros. I'm CLO of a fintech/startup in the ent./sports industries. What happened to the pinned post about the comp survey? It seems to have disappeared..

Need advice on mgt comp. I work for 25-yo company, $200m gross rev. I started in 2013 & on mgt team with 3 others. Ok salary & car. No bonus or equity. In ‘08 they created deferred comp plan for 8 employees not on mgt team ($50k/yr, 10-yr annuity at 65). They refuse to add others, saying it was mistake. I work hard but no upside. I want to stay (primary breadwinner). Need suggestions for how to break thru the log jam. Thx!

Any general advice when starting new in-house job? What would you have done differently/wish you knew? Advice on handling office politics, coworkers, bosses, clients, fitting in, learning new company, not knowing anything at first or feeling like it, making good first impressions, setting expectations, etc.? For awareness I have worked at a large firm and in-house before.

Does anyone have suggestions on resources to quickly get up to speed on the basics of a software license agreement?

What sources has your in-house legal department relied on to vet panel firms and benchmark pricing? Wondering what the most commonly used tools are to help identify providers and negotiate rates.

For those who went from private practice to in-house, what are some questions you wish you asked during interviews? I'm coming from a large regional firm, 9 YOE as a patent attorney, just had a first interview for a Senior IP counsel position at a profitable R+D company. Just wondering what I should be looking for or asking as far as red flags, because things seem really good so far.

Are there any in-house jobs that focus on strategic thinking, advisory, research, writing/communicating with business teams? Or do they all mostly focus on drafting/reviewing contracts? I’m in big law and yearning for a lifestyle improvement but am concerned with getting bored in-house

Any advice from former litigators on how to find an in house role that will allow my 7 years of litigation experience to be useful? I ideally want to be in a role that oversees and manages outside litigation but open minded to other roles and would love advice and any input that you can share. Many thanks in advance!

Curious if there are in-house "corporate counsel" (i.e. responsible for drafting/revising/negotiating commercial agreements) who were primarily employment attorneys in private practice? If yes, did you have contract experience in private practice and how did you get it? I'm a V100 MLA fwiw

Which books would you recommend for in house counsel about strategy, management, and leadership?

Asking as product counsel for tech startup.
