I have two job offers from start-up companies:

Option 1 - well known fintech company and about to go IPO. Will be doing corporate tax. Probably will turn into hybrid of WFH/coming into the office.

Option 2 - series A (been around about 3 years). Tax operation with high possibility of being exposed to other areas in accounting and finance of the company. Fully remote.

Compensation from both companies are the same. I would appreciate some advice on which option would you choose and why.

Bored at job doing moderately tedious and stressful work for 120k, but I’m wfh, job security good, 9-5, a few opps to learn new skills if motivated. Debating job hunting since toddler who nanny is watching will go to daycare in a few months and I’m expecting to have more free time. I like set hours, but I want a pay raise and hopefully work on a project I can learn new skills on. Concerns: losing work life balance, upcoming recession > layoffs of higher paid employees . Would you job hunt?

Am I broken? When I was in grade 1, made it to top 7 in class. When I told my mom, she seemed happy but non content ‘just top 7?’ she said. It somehow hit me hard. she didn’t really push nor nag about it, but what ended up is I strived for more honors and was hard on myself. As I grew older, I settled in for 2nd place at best, feel to be contented. though I try my best to get the top spot but seem to not reach it anymore. I rationalize that it’s not worth it for the time, effort and sacrifice.
