This really happens. I spent the first 4 years of my teaching career having this happen to me on a daily basis. I stuck it out for 7 years, and to this date, I don’t know why. I would go home and cry because I didn’t know what to do and no one could help me. I documented every single transaction I had with that teacher, every single day, and pretty much every single hour, by making a folder in my email, filtering emails with specific coding to be dropped off inside the folder, “just in case.” I had nearly 25 full pages worth of the co-worker I worked with and my interactions with her. I never had to use the evidence, but it came in handy during times when she would actively try to get me in trouble.
Yes contact the union. They will document as well.
Union would probably be a good idea. Can you give more details about what the conflict is?
Has she approached admin with what’s happening? Is there anyone who can vouch for her that might be believed? Her union might be able to help with mediation if nothing else.
Our Union is BS and won't deal with anything when it's unit member against unit member.
The teacher definitely need to go to the Union.
I’m in a similar situation only I’m the one trying to help a TA understand that her unhappiness is having negative effects on students. She is constantly rude to students and doesn’t do her job effectively. There are times I see great joy on her face and I’m trying to help her understand when she has great joy and what makes that happen so she can pursue that path instead of the one she is on. I have spoken directly to her in several occasions with no improvement. Maybe the person you speak of would be happier and treated more fairly elsewhere.
You have to pay into a union here is good old Texas.
I’m pretty sure ALL unions have union dues.
Stay away from her or you might be next!
File a union complaint and carry through the legal process. NEA has strong legal representation so use them
Don't back down. You are a professional just like her. If you do its a sign of weakness on your part and if she senses weakness you are doomed.
