One thing I loved about the WFH environment is being able to do video interviews and not having to tell anyone I have a doctors appointment or something. Literally no one knows that I was in an interview right before the team status meeting. Do you guys think that video interviews are here to stay even after covid? At least the first round or two? It can save so much time for everyone involved.

What’s the etiquette on applying for jobs to test the waters, so to speak?

Is it acceptable to significantly delay a start date (ie. toward the end of the year when things start to get back to normal) if you get an offer, or will that end up getting you blacklisted?

In November 2021, i was working in Tcs at a package of 4.1 on Mainframes. I was not happy at all with my career. Learnt a new technology(Cloud). Gave interviews, rejected by few companies including Deloitte. Kept going..
Joined Accenture as a Cloud Engineer. In December 2022, I will be earning a package of 12. Got one certification, aiming for 2nd one. All this within a span of 12 months. These are brilliant times in tech. Keep hustling. Success will be yours.

Is my bar too high in this day and age if I want guys to at least ask me out in person instead of reaching out on social media having never met me in person before? I just like when you have the guts to approach me in person instead of hiding behind a keyboard, or start with wanting to get to know me and not coming on too strong if we've never met.

Hello Everyone! Had a discussion yesterday regarding “claw backs” being included in a policy for sponsorship if the new employee leaves before 3 years. It was a declining percentage over a three year period. My POV was that it wasn’t something I’ve ever done and didn’t seem like they were sure of the hire they were making. Was offered a senior accounting position in NYC for 100k and a 20% discretionary bonus. My EY raise in October will put me at 91k. I feel like 100k base is low given all the benefits at EY (ex: phone bill, internet bill, fitness fund) but the recruiters are saying 100k for someone with 3 years experience is unheard of. How do public accounting firms find out investment independence, if an employee doesn't submit all investment accounts or he/she doesn't disclose some of them? Or if a particular firm doesn't require any submission (but has an independence policy).
