One thing that's been bothering me lately is how hard it is to find a job in marketing right now. There are so many different roles and responsibilities that it can be overwhelming. How do you know where to start? Is there even an opportunity for someone like me with no formal education?

I think there are opportunities. You can start by applying through job posting boards like Indeed, and then you can go from there, tailoring your results and applications to what you feel comfortable doing.

The market is definitely saturated. There are just too many options out there, and with the advent of social media, new roles are coming up every single day. A couple years ago, any official title including the work "Influencer" was not a job yet.

Go on LinkedIn and start networking! You can work without a degree, but you should at least have some experience to show.

There are tons of opportunities, but my suggestion is to start specializing in something (look up T-shaped marketer). The market is very saturated right now for marketing generalists. Also, a degree is not necessary in marketing, but it does help get your foot in the door with companies that require it. With that said, take free online courses and make sure to list them on your LinkedIn profile and resume. Many of these free courses will teach you more applicable knowledge than a degree would anyway. And read as many books as you possibly can. Always be learning.

Greattings, I started working at Morgan Stanley basically as an intern, then moved up to an Estate and Inheritor specialist, was looking to move on to be a FA getting my certs with MS sadly pandemic hit and things got stuck in MS, then I got an offer from my current employer Goldman sachs and I'm a manager for level 3 complaints for the GM card, I'm looking to go back to the path of FA but it's been hard to make the lateral move, any recommendations?

Curious to know which roles everyone is in and if you moved over from consulting. I recently left consulting for more impact, better $/WLB, but I’m not necessarily seeing it in tech. The consulting bowl hypes up FAANG so much but I’m not seeing the allure… fwiw I’m in bizops

Curious about non-US attorneys: are you working the crazy hour weeks most of us in the US do? Or are your weeks closer to 40 hours? I hear a lot about the working hour caps, vacation requirements, etc in Europe/Canada. Curious if that flows into legal practice... or if it gets ignored. To clarify—I’m talking about BigLaw. I’m sure there are smaller firms with reasonable hours, the same exists in the US.
