You should calculate premium + potential OOP max for each plan. At least for my family, I came out better with the HDHP for birth (non c section). I did hit the OOP max but the premiums were so much less it made up for the difference.
Definitely calculate it. The other factor is if the baby will go on your insurance or not. That could potentially affect your out of pocket maximum.
You might also be able to reach out to your benefits team and ask them to calculate it for you or if they had any guidance.
Something else to factor is in any additional things you might need. If you know you’ll need additional ultrasounds, those are not included in the global fee for delivery so would have an additional out of pocket cost before baby is here.
