Anyone done a switch from salt to fed?

I left public accounting for industry about 1.5 years ago. I was a senior in a PCS group. I'll be looking to get back into PA in a PCS group once I get licensed. Does being out of PA for 2 years mean I should look for an experienced staff role, or could I get a senior position? My industry role isn't tax related, so I would have to get back up to speed on all the tax changes in the past couple of years.

I don’t wanna use TurboTax for my personal taxes anymore. I don’t like the system. I’m an ex tax professional, so I don’t need as much handholding

EY and PWC under scanner in UK yet again for auditing issues. Pressure on them to break up. Audit cannot go hand in hand with consulting. Tough times ahead for Big 4. They had too much rope which is now getting cut

At what point does the pay scale level out between a JD and JD + LLM? Senior? Manager?

I’m not a recruiter but would help shepherd potential candidates through our process. Chicago/Milwaukee location preferred but not required.

So, the temp we hired for tax season, a senior, jumped ship, giving us an hours notice. I’m in industry, 3 in my tax team & our company is expanding big time. I get it that he was offered a full time position but it was a shock & we are having to realign expectations for tax season. My workload will now double. 🤦🏽‍♀️

I’m a tax senior 1 (will be a senior 2 in October) and just got an offer with a 26% raise at a large public company on their provision team. There’s also an aspect of FP&A and helping with transactions so not strictly tax. All seems super interesting and the team seems great. I really like my EY team and my counselor has talked to me about an early manager promo next year but have never intended to be a PA lifer. Any reason I shouldn’t take it?

What are legitimate options in careers for a tax manager coming from a midsize PA firm and 7 years of experience? I am feeling totally burned out of PA going to have 2,000 billable hours by EOY. Would really appreciate all suggestions!
