Opinions on moving from 1 B4 to another to move groups completely. Considering moving from compliance at 1 to M+A partnership tax consulting at another. Is it really true that you get the “black asterisk” on your name at the firm you leave??

No one cares if you move except you. You don’t get an “asterisk” lol. M&a partnership is a night mare at my firm. Not sure about overall. Hopefully you aren’t coming here lol

funny

M&A partnership tax manager here. Sub K has some of the hardest sections to learn and master, but it can be rewarding work. Infinitely more interesting than anything you’ll do in compliance.

Deciding on a career path

I feel like my brain works like a consultant, and I would enjoy consulting, but I also looove all things finance & investing. While I don’t necessarily have extensive experience in the field (most of what I know is self taught, my major is accounting), I want to get involved in it somehow and learn more.

I currently work in audit, I’m not sure what exit opportunities are an option for me for the investing/finance industry. Feel like chances are are slim. Any advice?

Anyone here who started their consulting careers later in life? Always seeing posts about how young people make it to P... wondering about the other stories. I started as a C at 29 (yes, unfortunately, I fall into the bucket of exp hire hired at a lower level...), made M at 33. Doing well but also feeling like I’m already too old to aim to be a P. Looking for advice on where to head next. Now I'm mostly working with Azure Databricks, SQL, and a little bit of Ansible CI/CD.
After 12 months I can influence where my next role is and I'm wondering what is the best career direction.
The next role can include
C#,
APIs,
React,
DevOps / Ansible,
Or more Azure Synapse & Databricks
Which of these languages / technologies is good for my future in tech? Or does it matter?

I don’t know how many people are in the European market who can help me but here we go. As someone who recently finished an internship at a Big 4 company in Germany, I realized that every strat role requires or strongly recommends a masters degree (as I have a cs undergrad). So here’s my situation: would it be better to do a masters in management at a top school in Europe, or accept an offer from EYP for a full time role. I don’t want my lack of masters degree to come up negatively in the future

Left my first job after just shy of two years because I was bored. Have been at my current job for about half a year and it’s a great resume builder but an absolute horror story (long hours, unreasonable clients, tons of weekend work that’s not worth the pay). If I left in a few months, at the 10 month mark, would that significantly hurt my chances of getting a strong exit opportunity? I can’t imagine staying here for the full year but I don’t want to blow my chances at leaving for a cool job

Hey! I've always wanted to get into IB (prestige, money, you name it), however now that I'm in a more laid back environment (better WLB, "easier work") it doesn't seem as attractive as before and the pay is quite good for an analyst level (I think the pay is competitive even comparing with IB's pay in my country) . I wanted to know if anyone had the same experience and what were your thoughts (pursue an MBA and leave your comfort zone and "good pay" or just stick with it). TIA!

It’s a clash of the generations that value tangible things like money, houses, cars and one that values time, experiences, personal online image. Thoughts?
