This trend of the SUV "coupe" needs to die
BMW invented it with the X6 but now every manufacturer does it because it sells... It’s really a sight to behold for something that has absolutely no logical reason to exist (worse to drive and more expensive than a sedan, less practical and more expensive than an SUV)
I live not far from a bmw dealership and have been seeing a lot of x5s and a few x6s in the wild.....I am not really a fan. I just don’t like the x6. The x5.....it’s almost too much. Like they made it look douchey. Over the top, if you will.
I drive a bmw so I don’t have anything against the brand, I just preferred the more subtle lines of previous generations. To some degree the sedans got a similar treatment, though the “base” style is still the same.
I like the interiors...but I like to flex a bit more subtly. The GIANT grills and chrome with the slight changes in the lines makes it look like it’s trying to hard. I dunno, just not my cup of tea.
Looks etc aside, the 50i is more than you will ever need power-wise in the X5 (I drive one). If you want an M car, get a real M car, don’t waste the $ on an M suv.
Just realized SC1 already made my point above. FWIW, the 35i is plenty. 50i if you want insane acceleration (and horrible MPGs). Strongly advise against X5M.
I’d get the Stelvio Quad instead
Beg to differ on that. You lease these cars anyway.
Great BMW, not a Porsche.
Don’t spend the extra money on the M, unless you’re solely doing it for status.
We bought the X5M, and it was cool for like two weeks, and then you come back to reality and realize that you’re going to spend 80% of your time in the car in traffic, and that at the end of the day it’s still an SUV and if you really wanted to put it through it’s paces, you should have bought the M4/M3.
In hindsight, we should have bought a regular X5, and spent the ~35k extra towards a down payment on a second home
(Dual income no kids, and I’m the lower earner, so don’t think too much into my Senior Consultant title)
I love the x6. But couldn’t justify the $$ with it being a bmw and not a Porsche or Maserati. I settled for an x4 which I love!! :)
Peeps call it a turtle on stilts. I call it beautiful lmao. To each their own!
BMW hasn't made a well-styled vehicle since the late 90s. They can't escape their signature split grill design, and it's just dated and old-fashioned.
They even put one on cars that don't need a grill. The I8 is a mid-engine hybrid car, but, for reasons that surpass all understanding, it has a split grill right there on the front.
The E36 was drop dead gorgeous. 😍
