Hi I’ve been working in the NHS for last 5 years progressing to finance manager role after graduating (currently on 52k) I’m part qualified ACCA and want to pivot my career maybe into tech. Also interested in transformation or consulting. I have experience of working in financial management. Any guidance or help? I’m keen for a role that offers a 10% increase in pay at least and better working hrs (currently working 10 hr days sometimes) thanks

So, I've been thinking alot and did quite some research but would really love some insight (Accounting vs Fund Accountant) As a newbie to accounting (completed my graduation and am currently halfway through ACCA), I've worked 3 years in accounting and account operations (AR, AP, Reconciliations, accruals, prepayments etc) and wanted to check out the other side of the coin in Finance. I recently came across a role of Fund Accountant and wanted to really know what the day to day work looks like

What salary range would you describe as middle class. LCOL I considered my family middle class when my dad made 50k in the 90s. Life seemed alright. 25 years later my dad and I both are at around 170, but I still consider us middle class like we were in the 90s, but now it feels like more of a struggle

Best life lesson I learned from Deloitte: don’t ever, EVER sign a contract that demands you return the sign on bonus if you leave within a year. I thought to myself, “I would never leave a company within a year”, but I grossly underestimated how much I could hate a job.

Okay I got to ask. As a fresh college graduate, why should I join consulting? Pay is shit, freshers are given the least interesting work (with minimal exceptions), work culture is not that great, work life balance goes for a toss. Is it because they are not able to land a job elsewhere?
