As a black person I'm well aware of the belief held that a lot of "us" dont actually belong in the firm..we are here through affirmative action/diversity push. How prevalent is that view do you think?

As the world watches Russia terrorize Ukraine, Ron DeSantis’s trashy shithole state ignores climate-change and faces the risk of being fully submerged underwater in +/- 40 years. Does Ron, an aspiring Presidential hopeful, do *anything* to lead us toward solutions for either of those existential crises?

After the whole diversity and inclusion push from my firm, I decided to try to create a Jewish group especially given all the anti semitism in the world. I sent an email to HR in beginning of august. It’s now almost September and no response (this includes multiple follow ups). They say it usually take 1-2 days to respond to emails. Hypocrisy?

Is QEF inclusion dividend or not? Sometimes, I see QEF inclusion reported on Line 11i and sometimes on Line 6a. I think we can rely on Sec. 1293(c) but I think it’s not foolproof. My hunch is since QEF regime is tailored to treat the PFIC similar to domestic mutual funds, we should not treat the QEF inclusion as dividends. Any help is appreciated.

Love watching my old agency struggle to retain their BIPOC talent and seeing on LinkedIn that all their new hires lately have been white men. Their diversity stats were already abysmal (even compared to the rest of the industry,) but it makes me laugh knowing that it's just getting worse for them.

Deloitte's move to disband diversity groups and to focus on giving white men more responsibility and training in reaching out sounds..... ambitious.

Anyone get an offer through special diversity recruiting and have a bad case of imposter syndrome? 😞 those programs are important but sometimes I wonder if I’m just a number for a quota....

Q: Men are increasingly not enrolling in college and not earning degrees (37.5% w vs 29.5% m in the 25-34yo bracket). Should men be provided incentives to go to college in the name of diversity?

Hello! New 🐠 here. I've been talking with some friends at other consulting firms and everyone seems to vary on how they record hours. Through this point, I've just been recording my hours accurately for both time billed to client and time spent on admin items. Is this the correct way to do it, or should I be capping at 8 hrs/day recorded on client work?

So far, nobody has called me out on it....

Also, I'm salaried, so my hours recorded don't matter for my pay.

Saw a thread on donating earlier and felt pretty guilty. I’d like to donate, and I tell myself I’ll do so once I’m more financially secure. But frankly I am financially secure right now. Part of me feels like until I’m debt free, have a house, a retirement nest egg, potential kids’ tuition, I should be saving and investing as much as possible in case I come on hard times. I’m extremely frugal and retain most of what I make. Any advice on overcoming this mindset to be more generous with my money?
