Hi everyone,
the changes in the high-tech market got to the place I called home for the last year, and unfortunately I was laid off this week, so I wanted to see if anyone here might help me finding my next home?
I have 4 years of full cycle recruiting working as part of a global team, I’ve been recruiting all kinds of position both technical and non-technical, and now looking for a place to bring my passion for recruiting and my love for helping people find their next career!

Recruiter here. I talk to associates at a lot of firms for various reasons. The sort of "stealth layoffs" at K&E happen all the time at every firm. When things are busy, it is hard for an associate to be shown the door. When things slow down, firms use the opportunity to trim the fat, so to speak. There's basically a backlog of associates who weren't working out that the firms are letting go now. You see these in basically every environment save the craziest booms when the demand for associates is far outstripped by the demand (like 2021). These sorts of layoffs happened in 2017 and 2018 and 2019, but people just didn't talk about them much.
All that said, once the underperformers are gone if the work continues to be slow and associates are still underutilized, we'll probably see other firms layoff associates that were doing fine but the work has just dried up. in the '01 and '08 recessions, the firms that rely on tech and startup clients were the first to lay people off. Not surprising that they are the first to defer incoming associates this go round.
Ke confirmed
Found the ke associate
I am a KE associate. “KE. boooo. booooo. hiss.” Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way — here is what we know:
I don’t think KE is doing “stealth layoffs”. A bunch of people were told that they were given da’ boot (almost all with 3-6 months to find something new and continue to get their cheddar). They had low hours (~1500) and/or performance issues. They would have been shown the door sooner if there hadn’t been a dearth of associates the past few years.
1500/per year generally from what I understand (our billable years begins/ends in Aug/Sept)

Have these been confirmed?
Generally not V10- Cooley
Basically all top firms do some stealth firings every year… This is normal.
