If he was sleeping well through the night, I would guess this is the beginning of the first major sleep regression where they wake up every three hours at the end of their natural sleep cycle and need to learn how to put themselves back to sleep. I would let the Snoo do it’s thing, then try a pacifier, then some cuddles, and as a last resort give a little bit of bottle. If he didn’t need a bottle before now, he really shouldn’t suddenly need one. Oh yes, also try increasing the amount of milk during the day, just to help rule out a growth spurt where he really is just hungry. If you need to give a bottle over a few nights in a row, you may want to consider sleep training in a crib for long-term healthy sleep.

This! I posted here and this was ALSO when baby refused the dream feed / bottle so I didn’t know if she was actually hungry when she woke! After a few weeks of feeding her again at night we stopped and just bounced her. We eventually sleep trained at 5 months.

Sounds like the 3/4 month regression. I’d attempt to let the snoo soothe him/soothe him on my own before feeding. He genuinely may be hungry (in which case it is obviously necessary to feed him) but I wouldn’t jump to feeding right off the bat. It’s not unheard of (or a bad thing!) for baby to add a feed back in the middle of the night. You can always work to drop the feed again.

Right. That’s what I said. Attempt to soothe using other methods, feed if necessary.
Do they just need a pacifier, or a quick cuddle, or are they feeding? Ours did that for a bit and they just wanted their paci. We let the snoo do it’s thing first (every time) and if that didn’t work would turn it off and give them paci.

I agree it’s a crutch, but babies need crutches sometimes! A crutch is just an aid. We all need help (parents and babies!)
He might also be having a growth spurt. If you do any bottle feeding maybe you can try front run extra calories starting from his 3pm feeds, in hope that this will remove his need for overnight feed
