Not sure what your kitties issue is, I had a cat diagnosed with cardiomyopathy (heart muscle thickening and hardening) and a slight murmur when she was 3. They said she’d have 3 years to live at the most. She was nearly 10 when she did go.
There isn’t much you can do but give them all the live you can and give them the best life for as long as it is.
Sending hugs and head butts.
Appreciate you sharing your story. It’s encouraging! Our boy is a very active cat, loves to spiny in the house and rough-housing with the other cat so trying to monitor his activity. So far, he’s been doing good at home so I’m grateful that there are meds that helps with his condition.
Thanks again for your insight!
So sorry to hear this. My 6 year old kitty died from a blood clot in May 2020, likely due to congestive heart failure. There were no warnings and it was very sudden. I was heartbroken. I was happy that at least she didn’t suffer from some long illness. It was in the very beginning of the pandemic so at least I got to spend the last two months of her life at home with her 24/7. She insisted on sitting on my lap all day while I worked. Enjoy the rest of the time you get with your kitty.
Thanks for sharing and sorry to hear about your kitty. Thankfully my kitty is now stable and back home so hopefully the medication will help manage. It is scary how there’s no warning/symptoms 😿
Oh no I'm so sorry to hear this for your sweet boy ❤️ I hope you're able to take some time to give him lots of cuddles, his favorite foods, and whatever else will bring you both joy.
Update: poor guy we’re having trouble eating and now got diagnosed with esophageal strictures, which are scar tissues narrowing his throat tube. Hard to swallow 😕 Because of his heart condition, any potential procedure to help comes with heightened risk.
My husband drove 3 hours to a specialized vet to get second opinion but sounds like there’s no good options. Feel so bad for the little guy. He is only 3 and all of this.
On top of that our daughter’s daycare closed this week after one of her classmate tested positive for COVID. Fun all around haha. Sorry to vent. It’s a tough week here
Sorry to hear this. I have a sphynx and that breed is known to have heart issues, especially HCM. I just had her scanned and thankfully they did not find any evidence of heart disease. There are medicines that can help manage the disease progression as they help to manage the symptoms so just try to be mindful of noticing symptoms (coughing, lethargy, loss of appetite, etc) as the sooner you react to symptoms the better they can be managed. I know some people with cats that have lived long and happy lives on meds.
I’m so sorry to hear that you guys are going through this. That really is the worst feeling. I hope you get some time to give him extra love
So very sorry. Lots and lots of head butts your way from my own kitties.
Thanks all for sharing and kind words. Thankfully he is doing well - eating, drinking, purring and taking medications like a champ! I’m hoping the meds really help manage things and he doesn’t feel pain in any way.
What a handsome guy! Spoil him rotten for the time he has left, and know that you did everything you could.
