As a mid-level associate, what is an appropriate amount of notice to give your firm when you leave? I’m running a couple deals right now and do not want to leave my team in a bind...so 2 weeks seems far too short. That said, I also want to take some actual time off before starting a new role. Not sure how much time new employer is willing to give me before starting...I suspect max 6 weeks.

Booked a vacation months in advance using PTO. Just found out our sign off got pushed to the week I’m not here….what do I do? I already bought tickets and booked a hotel.

How long of a vacation is too long? In other words, as a partner or senior associate is there a duration where you’re like “wtf how can the mid level/junior expect to be out of commission for [•] days??”

Go to sandals or flip flops for the pool/beach? I have high arches so usually avoid flip flops if I have to walk any distance at all, but need something cute and comfy for upcoming vacation.

I am feeling like I am the verge of a meltdown at my current job, and I have a variety of interviews but I’m having a really hard time making time for interviewing and my current responsibilities. I have plenty of money in the bank, and I sort of want to just quit and finish out my interviews, choose a job and get a little time off - but in some ways this seems crazy. Thoughts?

Is anyone else seeing their holiday and PTO wages being taxed by the state they're based out of (IL) even if you are a nonresident of that state? I've only worked in my base location 1 day this year. I would expect that I didn't meet the 30 working day threshold to be taxed on any wages, but HR is claiming those paycodes are taxable because of my base location.
