D1, I'm going to slap the piss out of you at the next all deloitters event. And then I'm going to show you how to use the word savage properly.
EY1, that last bit about the "fat shit" is not exactly the way to handle things at PwC.
OP, Manager here. A few things:
1.) Your manager sounds immature and probably is not that great at their job
2.) If your tasks are done, leave. Like EY1 said, set boundaries for yourself. We have a no retaliation policy, and I know people that have relied upon it, successfully.
3.) If your tasks are done for the day, you're caught up on work, and you've hit your hours for the day, there's nothing the Manager can do to keep you there. If they have an issue with it, talk to your coach, talk to your RP, talk to the leadership on the engagement, and if you need to, talk to HR. If you don't feel comfortable doing any of that, call E&C. If the project is on schedule and he is wasting your time with chatter, he's the one in the wrong. That's time you could be doing work, or getting dinner and a workout in so you can get back home or to the hotel and get a little more work done (if needed), or unwind so you don't burn out.
PwC 2, it is absolutely not part of OP's job.
P1 is on the money
P2- it is not anyone's job to felate an arrogant manager's ego by pretending to give a fuck about his stories. This manager is rude and inconsiderate and he will run people away and he won't have people who want to work for him on projects in the future. Managers are nothing without their following. He needs to learn about servant leadership and have some humility.
Set boundaries for yourself. If you tell your EM you're leaving to go to the gym and your work is done, they can't exactly fire you. If they make comments about you leaving, just say you don't want to turn into a fat shit like most consultants.
Get back to work OP
Ughhhhhhhhh that is the worst 😵
Optics bruh. Better than him sending emails to you at 11PM though.
Why are you complaining on FB instead of talking to him?
Since when PwC uses the term EM?
OP... weekend work (unless absolutely necessary) can be an Ethics violation. There's actually a web training or training video about that exact scenario. You need to talk to at very least your coach or a partner you can trust or HR about this.
Who the eff is your manager bc I will cut a b*tch
what's an EM?
Engagement Manager
He will find work if you talk about leaving earlier.
OP, just pack your stuff when you're done and go. You're under no obligation to stay.
Understand the ethics boundaries and system the firm has in place, and arm yourself with it.
Hahaha weekend work is an ethics violation? You must be in the federal practice.
He is giving the rest of us managers a bad name. Call the ethics hotline and ask for their help. Don't be afraid to go to your director or partner, they may not know this behavior is going on.
