Anybody else dreading the world going back to normal? I personally am thriving in the WFH environment and don’t want to go back. My agency will likely be more flexible with WFH even after this madness is over, but I have a feeling taking advantage will bite me in the ass. I’m married with a house in the burbs, all my teammates are single and live in the city a few mins from the agency (& want to go back). I feel like I’ll be forgotten, passed up for opportunities, or fall behind if I stay WFH.
Next $billion startup: something around onboarding/wfh/wfh setup/company benefits Twitter, FB, others are moving away from offices and the market here will be huge. Anyone want to brainstorm ideas?
If I work from home 3-4 days for the rest of the year, do I have a legitimate claim to home office deduction? If yes, does anyone have advice on how to go about preparing for the eventual audit?
I wonder how really flexible the schedule is in industry - heard that you have to be chained to your desk so it's not like you can leave earlier or choose to be remote one day because you need to take kids to the doctor. Plus if you need to commute then you are not really seeing the kids that much more. Is it the answer here "less traveling and more local clients"?
Anyone take a full time remote position? How do you like it? Does the company invest your at home office set up? Did you get a wework or equiv membership to feel like going into an office?
Cyber security experts -my parents PC got remote hacked and they took full control of it. I had personal files there at one point. What’s best course of action other than PW change, and credit freeze
WFH is making me so depressed and I’m missing my family. 😢 Sometimes I wonder if all this working abroad is really worth it
Do others feel that firms are ignoring the mental health toll this pandemic, WFH and uncertainty of firm financial health is taking on employees?
With the whole COVID-19 WFH situation, I’ve been feeling increasingly overwhelmed, anxious and like I’m starting to slip into depression (cont. in comments).
If firms go exclusively remote, I have zero reason to remain living near “home office”. Likelihood we’ll shift to that model, and can live wherever?
Off topic but wanted to see if anyone can offer any advice - gf is moving in to my place. I asked for an additional parking spot at my apartment management. They approved, even gave extra garage remote. 5 days later, they say uh whoops we didn’t realize you were in a 1 bedroom, you can’t have more than one spot so we have to take this parking spot back. I have their email approval but no signed contract. She already moved and now we don’t have a parking spot for her car. Anything I can do here?
How has everyone adapted with communicating with their teams when working remote? Are there any problems you’ve noticed?
Dear agency leaders: Make the agency WFH through the end of March. Do it NOW. Clients will understand.
Based on West Coast, about to be staffed on an East Coast project. 6h of travel each way. Any advice on what works best to make this sustainable? Alternating remote weeks? 2 travel weeks, 1 remote?
I'm feeling overwhelmed! I need a mental health day to just step away from my laptop and tv screen, but it seems like work-life balance is way off balance and work heavy since WFH...
Has anyone looked into how remote work from another country effects H1B status? Came to Canada to visit my partner and planning to stay back until the travel ban and virus issues relax.
Hey PWCers, what insights can you give me about the financial effectiveness group? (SA and manager salary, average work week, partners within the practice, types of projects, exit ops?)
If you are traveling to San Jose, just so you know Marriott San Jose workers have been on strike for 5 days
I always hear about how Bain has the “best workplace culture” among the bigger consulting firms. I get that they have an interesting home staffing model. What else makes it so great or is it just Kool-aid?
The department said Thursday that it found Yale discriminates based on race and national origin, violating federal civil-rights law, and that race was the “determinative factor” in hundreds of admissions decisions each year. It said for the majority of applicants, Asian-American and white students have one-tenth to one-fourth the likelihood of being admitted as African-American applicants with comparable academic credentials. https://www.wsj.com/articles/justice-department-finds-yale-discriminated-based-on-race-in-undergraduate-admissions-11597351675?st=78xz4fjutjiytln&reflink=article_copyURL_share.
Pros/cons of joining a startup vs an established industry practice? I love the startup culture and growth potential, but wonder if it’s too risky for someone with only a couple years experience?
I’m currently not at my husband’s place. He lives with his sister and his mother. I left his place on a bad note with multiple quarrels (like I had posted last week). He mentioned to me that he has been sleeping next to his mother since I left his place. Is this a normal behavior? He says there is no specific reason for him to move into his mom’s room instead of sleeping in his own room. Strangely, I am finding this a very odd behavior. Let me know if this isn’t something to think upon.
Currently at Deloitte and working on transitioning to MBB. What are some skills I’ll need to develop to be successful over there if I manage to get an offer?
Covid survivors - what is your blood type and how severe were your symptoms? Let’s use number of days/weeks off work as level of severity. I’m A+ and 4 weeks off work https://directorsblog.nih.gov/2020/06/18/genes-blood-type-tied-to-covid-19-risk-of-severe-disease/
