The same resources are made available to white professionals. There are plenty of straight people in KPMG's Pride network. There are plenty of men in KPMG's KNOW network. Folks outside of the specific group demographic are strongly encouraged to join and get involved.

Also, I'm fairly certain the firm would support you in almost any professional network you could dream of, as long as you can meet the membership requirements. Pretty sure we even have a Crossfit network 🙄

OP, as EY2 and others have brought up, there are myriad studies and stats where hiring managers prefer white people, white and black young people alike consider white dolls/action figures to be better, white people get better bonuses for the same work, etc. Either you don't know about the breadth and depth of these statistics, or you know and still think that white people are somehow disadvantaged by not having a club that does nothing that directly provides jobs/better salary/better perception in the workplace as directly as just being white has as evidenced in said studies. Which is it?

Also, fuck off.

Go to a Hispanic ERG event or a women's ERG event and you will see why they are necessary. I'm honestly a bit disturbed by this post. You do know that ERGs are meant to bolster the experience of minorities at these predominantly white male firms? And like someone has mentioned, there is a men's ERG-AND ERGs are open to all so you can join them even though you are (clearly) not a minority. Maybe you should attend a few events and expand your thought process.

Statistically white people are not disadvantaged based on the color of their skin. Although the people commenting here show enormous disdain and impatience for a white person who feels disadvantaged, most research shows that white people are more likely to be hired, promoted, given raises, etc. So, OP, you don't get a racially-oriented support group because statistically you don't need one. Also the white power groups that came before ruined it for you. Sorry, them's the breaks.

Unfairly disadvantaged by all the people just like them (i.e. white and male) in management deciding who gets promoted or not? Sounds about right :P

White men have an ERG. It's called the Planet Earth. The uncoordinated, unseasoned, unmitigated gall of you to even fix your clearly at best mediocre and greasy ass fingers to post this bullshit is beyond me.

I think @OP needs a "Lonely, angry, Ayn Rand aficionado" affinity group more than a white male one

Referencing your original post: (1) I don't really understand what the purpose of such a group is. (2) You claim not funding white groups is an "unfair disadvantage" but you don't know such a group would be denied funding. Maybe there's not enough demand for such a group. Indeed, why don't you found such a group and see how much interest you get? (3) Why can't firms view promoting diversity as a business need and spend money to achieve it? I'm not a lawyer, but I don't see any laws it would run afoul of. Am I missing something?

Isn't the firm as a whole already a white men's BRG, with others welcome to join?
