Maybe you can request your manager to start the meetings earlier. You can ask him to start the meeting an hour earlier so that all the necessary topics can be addressed.
I would start by telling him that if he wants us to stay for a meeting, it better be over at 5 because that is when we're off the clock and we need to get home. Otherwise, move them to another slot.
If you have a family, that's usually a good explanation for why you have to leave on time. "Sorry, my kid has soccer practice at 5:30 every day" or something of the sort
I'd start with asking if they would be willing to adjust the time to 4:00 so that there would be more time to discuss things as a team. Then no one would feel guilty about leaving at 5:00, since it's already been an hour by that point
How about "oh wow," <looking at watch/clock/cellphone> "it's almost 5. Sorry to rush things along, but are there any other things it's important to discuss before we all go home?" Simple, direct, effective.
