Instead of giving millions of dollars to IBM, Accenture or Wipro to manage every aspect of their SAP environment (database, OS, Server, ABAP) for seven years, clients now pay to move SAP to HANA as SaaS.
No need for outsourcing. They might ask for a few offshore HANA experts, but with SaaS, most of the big money outsourcing is not needed. And with SaaS, there is minimal/no customization. You are running SAP’s process.
There are risks, you can lock yourself into HANA or SFDC with the hundreds of paid apps each provide for their platform, but it is better than dealing with servers in your own data center.
And yeah, cloud can turn into a money suck for clients, but it isn’t outsourcing. And time to market will improve.
OP, if you reduce operating costs of running a commodity set of applications and take that capital to redirect toward something more innovative, say SmartFactories...wouldn’t that be of value?
Cause that’s exactly what outsourcing allows. You think the $40M leading edge projects just find themselves in publicly traded companies??
