A lot is dependent on the amount of hiring you project within a fiscal year. For companies who hire 10+ at least, you will be spending significantly more money outsourcing the hiring to 3rd party vendors. Many of those vendors will also have contracts with your competition in the market, meaning you will probably have to inflate your comps to effectively hire the candidates. If your company is hiring less, than from a cost perspective, you may be better off outsourcing in the short term.
One large aspect that is often overlooked when looking into outsourcing, is you employer branding throughout the interview process. Vendors will not be able to provide true context on why your company is great, as they are only looking to fill the role and get paid. In house TA teams can provide those details from the onset and become a true partner to the internal hiring teams as they are not motivated by commissions per hire.
You made some valid points on both the pros and cons of outsourcing vs recruiting. Thank you for your input
We base it on seniority. Entry levels are done via recruiters, it's easier that way. For niche positions that are senior level, we outsource. It takes a lot more work to convince those candidates and our team doesn't have the resources or the wherewithal to stalk on Linkedin the way our recruitment partner does lol
Could I ask why at entry-level positions, do u find those positions much easier to fill than the senior levels? DO the entry-level positions tend to stay once they are in the company? I thought it would be cheaper to outsource entry-level positions than senior-level positions.
I would say outsourcing. I think recruitment takes a lot of time and effort, costs a lot too. Outsourcing is much more cost- and time-effecient.
I am hearing a lot more companies are tending to outsource more recently, especially since the pandemic.
