Personally, I’d start with updating my resume. Listing out key achievements with a focus on business impact and growth helped me understand what I had available to pitch for other roles and helped me figure out what else I needed. You may want to consider a professional resume writing service too. At least than 150K with a tech program management background, there are definitely jobs out there that should fit you. I’m sorry to say, it feels like you’ll have to move companies to get more money. As far as growth/ development pieces, that depends on your target job. Once you have your background nailed down, targets identified, weaknesses and gaps understood, you can build your personal story to get there. Good luck!

To start with, just a few questions: 1 - How long have you been at your current firm? 2 - Are you willing to move firms? 3 - What does a successful reboot look like to you? (Money? Promotion? Role?) 4 - Assuming you want to get promoted, what are the main development goals from your reviews? 5 - Do you want to stay in technical program management?

1. Around 10 years 2. Willing to move to a new firm but have roots in Southern California. Lot of family resistance to move anywhere else 3. Primarily money, making less than 150k TC now 4. Firm is expecting sales and growth. Given COVID things are slow 5. Not tied to the role, can do any management work in a technical environment

Hi Ladies! I’m transitioning to a manager of a team I’ve been leading. There’s been a lot of turnover with the team and I feel like I’m having a hard time getting the team to see me more as an authoritative figure. For example, when I ask for volunteers on a simple task, no one replies. Should I just resort to assigning rather than asking? Also are there leadership books you suggest that I could read up on? Thank you!

What is the bonus structure at your law firm? Associate hour requirement at my firm is 1850, for every hour over that you get your billable rate (i.e. if your rate is $200/hr you get $200 for each hour over 1850). To me this seems like its just overtime pay. Is this typical?

Lots of post about kids so I’ll offer one that’s been on my mind. Why more than one kid? I grew up with a sibling. She is my best best friend but as I’ve gotten older realized we were more of the exception. Lucky that we are same gender (which I do think impacts closeness), that we are close in age, and just clicked like bffs. Have since met so many sibs with non existent and toxic relationships. More kids = more expense. After passing on genes and getting love of a child, why have more than one
