A1: no - Respect for the Individual is a core value....
OP: I've made a habit in my career of ensuring my CC is not my reporting line. Your CC is your choice and you can always request a new one. Myrequests is the place to go - either request someone specific, or do a non specific request. If the later - you will likely get asked why. Please be honest and up front.
Sorry OP. Though I can't relate regarding a mgr who is also your cc, I had a similar situation with a manager on one of my first few projects. I called him out on it with a light tone one time at dinner (other folks where within earshot), and he profusely apologized and honestly I never saw it again, and our relationship was good since. I'd encourage you to call him out, but don't be too dramatic and don't expect too much. Been at Accenture 2.5 years and have noticed high levels of respect and professionalism for the most part, truly do love the folks here.
@A1 - You're trying too hard to be a prick. It's not cool or amusing. It's a bit sad and weird.
Lol A1 is definitely one of the guilty parties
What if a1 is OPs CC
Oh A1, nice to see you rotating to the "new" so nimbly.... OP is new to our family, time to find feet is ok.
Lol coming from Deloitte
@A1 - if it was anyone but my Cc I wouldn't be concerned. However, given he is my primary advocate in promotion/development, I am concerned as to what the implications of this are. @SC2, I didn't catch the whole comment, but enough to know they were laughing at me. Noticed a few other times as well....
Wait til your next project. If you like your new mgr....see if he will become your new cc.
Basically look for a new cc but don't give away that you over heard his conversation
Damn A1 is that shitty person everyone hates but they're so narcissistic they'll never realize it 😂
I'd call him/her out face to face. And bluntly say that after hearing them speak about you like that you don't feel comfortable having them as your advocate and will be finding a new CC. Take this as an opportunity to show you have balls and won't be walked on just because you're younger.
ACN is going down the drain. Serious lack of professionalism from top down.
That's really not ok. You have to escalate that to a trusted more senior person. If not, go to hr as they handle things very discretely in my experience
Was it along the lines of "OP is soo stupid lol" or "wow did you see that bright orange tie OP is wearing lol"? Those deserve very different types of responses
OP- look for a new cc. That is crazy unprofessional coming from a cc. ACN needs to hire real coaches that focus on development full time, not these so called "counselors" who put their counselees last every time.
Me personally, I would let them know I heard them and that it was not cool. I would want them to feel as uncomfortable as possible and I would do it while drinking or in a low stress situation so as I told you I could laugh it off so u know I was pissed but I am laughing so u don't know how pissed.
... I've never had any issues like this before, and I've always made an effort to be very professional. Worked at other firms (recent graduate) and never noticed this happen to myself or anybody else.
I would say A9 has summed up A1 on behalf of all of us! Thanks A9'
Your cc and your manager are the 2 parts of the story when it comes to promotions. I would talk to someone that you trust in the company and get their advice as a more senior leader. If you don't think your cc/PM will stand up for you in the call, then cutting ties may not be a bad option?
ACN culture is horrible.
Don't go to HR, they are useless. I submitted two harassment complaints and nothing happened, we escalated to a trusted SM but he did nothing as he was leaving and didn't want to jeopardize a recommendation. Agree Accenture is unprofessional, people like A1 are ruining the firm
