Bain & Company What is the likelihood of making SAC in September 2022 if I join as an AC on April 18th at Bain & Company? I am a senior consultant at EY with 3.5 years of experience in Data Analytics. Or is March 2023 more realistic? They told me 6 months for promotion but it seems like the two promotion cycles with my different start dates give me 4 or 9 months of experience, nothing in between. I’ll be joining in the private equity group which will be new for me.

There is no such thing as an EA3, you're an A3.
But you should expect to make about $100k as a SA1a in NYC without a top tier MBA
^S1 Maybe not to you, but some of us were hired and/or promoted into that role. I refuse to be an 'Associate.'
Assume you're at 86k right now? SA1 in NYC is 99k so that's probably what your new salary is, if everything stays the same.
P2, you might have the title of an EA but you're still an A2 or A3 in the cohort model 😉
Thanks guys. Sounds about right (and don't have an MBA)
The cohort model can bite me, my Masters, and my five years of industry experience.
Glad it's here and not on one of the nastier threads :)
P4, spot on, SA1 earned 95k this past year in Chi
EA is a made up title to make special snowflake millennials feel like they achieved something... The equivalent of everyone getting a participation award. I'm so glad we're eliminating that title.
P3 calm down there's like 30 of us
20-25%
There are only one or 2 EAs in FS Advisory in NYC. You're pretty much naming yourself.
Any idea what an SA1 would make in chicago? If nyc is 99k, should i expect chicago to be 95k?
The topic of labeling people as Associates vs. Experienced Associates has always been a bit problematic. All that is required to be an EA is to not get fired as a first year, or get hired from industry with a bit of experience, which is not hard. The real problems start when people put EA in their email signatures - I have had three clients tell me they didn't want inexperienced Associates because someone showed up with EA in their email signature. Unintended consequences I guess, but hopefully people are keeping the role descriptions internal.
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
Actually P6, it was a BS way to bring in experienced hires. I would not taken the job if I knew I'd be at the same level as new college hires.
