“Job hopper” and “quiet quitting” are all schemes made up by boomers to make you think everything is the employees fault. When in reality people are just getting out of bad situations. Does anyone have experience switching to another big 4 as a tax manager? Did your old firm terminate your employment immediately? If yes, did you still get paid for your notice period? Was planning to give 2 weeks notice, but if there’s a chance they terminate me immediately I’ll only give one week.

First 8 weeks as an Associate after jumping from Big4:

Pros - super smart/driven colleagues, more unique/interesting work, more ownership, benefits are awesome, traveling frequently, more technical work, more frequent feedback

Cons - hours are worse, much faster timelines, having to learn the BCG way quickly, much higher expectations, less ability to choose cases

Overall very happy with the switch so far - happy to answer any questions!

Should I stop taking interviews because I just left my old job 1.5 months ago? Only reason I switched was because of the 48% increased pay and I don’t love what I do. I wanna be in a different industry & role and some companies reached out to me to interview and one will pay me 31% more for base and with bonus, it’s 57% more than current pay if I get it. My number one insecurity is how alone I am.
I don't have family. I don't have close friends anymore after I finally stood up for myself and cut off the toxic ones. I'm also single.

Feeling extra sensitive, was forced to sit in a conference room with people every day this week and am mentally exhausted from having to engage in non-work related convos in which I have zero interest.

I grew up poor and went to a bad state school for UG. I now make close to $500K TC a year and have an MBA from Yale.

Life is so much better and is so easy when you have money and access to education lmao. People that grew up middle class or upper middle class have no idea how much everything sucks for, like, most people in the US and even more internationally.

I bury myself in work to distract myself from how dark and lonely this world really is..

I’m trying to accept that my dad just isn’t going to start taking care of himself. He’s been about 100 pounds overweight for maybe 14 years now. He’s talked so many times about getting in better shape, eating right, losing weight. He’s lost 20-30 lbs a couple times but then goes back to where he started. He turns 60 this month and I’m really becoming concerned about heart disease and other issues. I’ve tried supporting him in many ways over the years. Just ready to give up now.

My mum cheated on my dad when I was in grade school and I still resent her for it. I try not to but my dad sacrificed so much for everyone in our family and I don’t understand how she could have done that.

Somehow my dad found the strength to forgive her because he didn’t want us growing up in a broken family like he did. I feel like I can’t fully move past it after seeing how it broke my dad and it subconsciously affects my actions towards my mum sometimes.
