Paralegal in India here primarily in M&A law and white collar investigation and advisory and wanted to know whether there are any Paralegal certifications that are globally recognised and worth pursuing? By worth pursuing I mean adding to my skill set and boosting CV thereby my employability. I’m looking to eventually move and do the bridge exam in Canada. Thank you!!

Paralegals are regulated at the state level in the US. There was no one globally recognized cred when I was one 2002-2013.

The best thing you can do to strengthen your credentials is take all of the _legal_ (not paralegal) training you can find.

Topic: interviews

Is it appropriate to follow up after interviews to ask why you were not selected? And/or ask for feedback so that you can develop and improve professionally?

I've had SEVERAL interviews since February, and I keep getting rejected and it's starting to leave me feeling discouraged. I've been in my current position for just over 3 years and in the industry for around 4 years and have a bachelor's in Legal Studies. The positions I've applied to all vary in nature.

It recently came to my attention that I’m billing significantly more than is strictly required of me and also more than the attorneys are required to bill (and what they actually bill lol). Hi everyone. Is it typical for the attorney to take credit for the work a paralegal does? An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.

How familiar are you with the cases of attorneys you don’t work under? Our firm is a small law firm and organized so that every partner has a secretary or paralegal (3 partners). We have a a couple of associates and law clerks that rotate between the partners. But each secretary normally sticks with their own partner. I work under the managing partner, so I also have a lot administrative and office management duties. Unless I’m asked to do a specific task, I never touch the other partners cases.
