I encourage you to look into Warren Buffet’s 90% SAP 500 and 10% bond low cost fee funds.

If they are close to retirement, that is probably too risky, unless that 10% is a very large number.

If they are closer to retirement I would not do anything drastic. I would definitely have a portion in the stock fund. Depends on their overall financial situation, how much risk they want to or need to take. Unfortunately it sounds like they have always had it this way and have missed a lot of returns?

Thanks! Dad knows nothing of finances and insisted on keeping it in bonds. We will be having a family discussion!

I have a petty sister-in-law who insists that my husband and I live a life doing whatever we want and I don't go to see my bro or nephew because I don't care for them. Mind you I go over minimum once a week, even if just for 30 mins cause I enjoy seeing the baby. Is it worth confronting her when she posts shade on her IG immediately after a convo with my bro about not passing by. My next instinct is to ignore and stop reaching out to them (I usually initiate)

I am not from the US and taxes overwhelm me; the first few years I did them with TurboTax and it was fine but then I entered a domestic partnership and had a baby. I also bought a house (that I don’t live in), so I went to H&R Block to give it a try assuming they could advise me on optimizing my return, it seemed that they are completely transactional as the person is just typing numbers in a form. Any recommendations on how to navigate personal taxes with an actual advisor?

I think I’m falling for my mother in law. The feelings aren’t necessarily sexual in nature. They seem to be much deeper and emotional feelings—which I get would concern my wife more so than sexual feelings. It doesn’t help that everyone thinks my MIL finds me to be her “favorite” in addition to some other complicating nuances. Obviously, I won’t act on these feelings, but as the years go by, the closer we’re going to get since she’s around a lot and we talk quite often when we’re alone.

Did you have to decide on remote vs hybrid school for your kid/s? We are supposed to make a final choice this week for the remainder of the school year and I'm struggling with it, even though I think I know what we should choose. I’m pretty sad right now- I learned that my dad committed 529 fraud against my siblings. He sent overpayments to universities, received reimbursement checks in my siblings names, and then forged my siblings signature and deposited to his account. My sister has $70k in student loans. My brother likely will have many too. My sister is owed at least $22k already, and that’s just from the records I found. Has anyone ever dealt with this? Don’t want to go legal if avoidable
