Sorry you’re dealing with this. You mentioned you have family help but maybe a part-time babysitter might help relieve some pressure? Maybe a meal rotation or cleaning service? It’s tough to spend more $ but might solve some issues. Any chance of adjusting your work schedule in some way? I haven’t dealt with chronic illness so I may not be helpful, just wanted you to know we’re here for support.

Sometimes I’ve been able to send forms to our doctors to be filled out and the staff in the office will return completed forms in a few business days, or some of our pediatricians have had a $10 fee to complete forms outside a regular visit. Maybe you could call and ask for them to complete the forms without having to wait so long? Scan/email/fax and maybe they can have the dr complete them at the end of a day? I hear you about the commute, mine was like that pre-covid and I’m trying to secure permanent wfh. It might be tough, but occasionally try to take one of those vacation days for yourself to rest and do nothing medical or work related. Good luck!

When you noticed, how it progressed, what helped the most etc. 3yr son is diagnosed with mild Autism and I feel he is getting better in some areas but worse with stimming and zoning out. I know evey child is different but a worried parent trying to decipher what future holds. Thanks!

Lots of post about kids so I’ll offer one that’s been on my mind. Why more than one kid? I grew up with a sibling. She is my best best friend but as I’ve gotten older realized we were more of the exception. Lucky that we are same gender (which I do think impacts closeness), that we are close in age, and just clicked like bffs. Have since met so many sibs with non existent and toxic relationships. More kids = more expense. After passing on genes and getting love of a child, why have more than one

Anyone dealt with your sibling getting divorced and the SIL fallout? My brother is going though a divorce and it is ugly. She is saying he is “unfit” (he is not). He has a 32 yr old who I am very close to, and a 12 yr old who is my goddaughter. His ex was my bff and now she says he is an unfit father and trying to take away his parental rights. I am stunned. It has fractured us beyond what I thought possible. Do I stay neutral for the nieces? Do I shout at the top of my lungs he is a good guy?

Hope to learn more if you bought an apt in Manhattan, or if you decided against it (renting/moving to upstate/Long Island/Jersey). My husband and I are considering to have a baby soon and are thinking of buying and living in Manhattan for the next 10 years or so (looking at property under $2M). Please share what you considered as you were making the decision - I hate throwing away rent but also don’t want to trap ourselves in significant financial obligations. Thanks!

Has anyone used bright horizon’s back up child care? I’m currently juggling my two little ones (almost 1 and 3) because grandma had a procedure that sidelined her for a few weeks. We’ve never done care centers or outside help - so naturally I’m apprehensive, but with busy season ending, these final few weeks are proving to be too much. I can do in home or a center- but my nerves are holding me back, esp for my almost 1 year old.

How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct.
