Anyone make a move to MBB LS arm?
FAANG Exit to MBB?
3.5 YOE, Non-technical, 150k TC
Been at Alphabet my entire career post-undergrad. Managed to move from Google to a well-respected Bet where I’m very happy. Undergrad was a pretty general liberal arts degree and haven’t pursued grad school yet.
What would it look like (from a TC + long term career standpoint) to switch over to MBB for a year or two then go back to FAANG?

I don't think you know how MBB staffing models work... like at all.
Bain's staffing works like that...so at least 1 of the MBB
My understanding is that MBB doesn't care about utilization because at the end of the day they're going to find you work. Not saying you don't have a say in the matter and can't proactively network, but if Accenture and Deloitte see you're on the bench for a while they're gonna say find something or move on. No help.
Was intended to be like Bain's, since parthenon is essentially a Bain spinoff. But in recent times, staffing has become haphazardly random with almost no say in what you want. With most of the work being due diligence, expect 24-36 hours notice before a case starts... and ends 2-3 weeks later. Double staffing (2 project allocation) is the norm. Feels like you're slotted into whatever opens up whenever it opens up (as a resource). Guaranteed no long term implementation/PMO work though.
@BCG1 How does your regional staffing work? I hear from friends (South offices) who often got stuck for multiple cases under a partner and that staffing has limited influence in where you're assigned. All of our staffing goes through an office staffing manager and we have a formal "no networking rule" in the process.
If you're in the dedicated education practice, it's a different story
What's the progression like after consultant? I saw a posting for senior consultant but that role doesn't show up on glassdoor. Is it new?
@B2 interesting, what do you think about how the "no networking rule" works out? Like what if there's a cool project coming up that everyone wants to join? Do people just let the office manager arbitrate the goods?
Ours is fairly network based, especially in a big office. You can always fall back on the staffing function (which is strong and helpful), but after a year or 2 you can probably control your own destiny.
