Possibly Astoria, but unlikely with an elevator (those are new construction and 2br might go over).

I can confirm - I got a 2bd I’m Astoria in one of the newer buildings for 4.9k - now similar unit is are going for 5.3k.
Alternative is considering NJ. There are some new building with roomy apartments and those amenities at fairly affordable prices just across the river. Easy commute in / out of the city too.
Agreed! I’m in a 1 BD 900+ sq ft, in-unit WD, balcony, gym, high rise, amazing view of city, and best part - only 10-15 min commute to city via PATH. All for 3K!

Expand your search a bit in Queens and drop the W/D and you might find something.

My building has W/D on site, just not in the unit.

I’m an Astoria native and I gotta say, it’s getting a little crowded over here
You might be able to find what you need if you cut either the elevator or in-unit w/d. Landlords sometimes renovate their small buildings with all the fixings, but they’re walkups. But being on the ground or second floor really isn’t so bad. Otherwise, with an elevator, w/d in the building also isn’t so bad.

Definitely look into Astoria. LIC will be out of your budget range. Astoria is much better than LIC anyway, way more lively, nice neighborhood feel, very diverse and safe, very old world Greek and Italian vibe (families that have lived there for generations). Astoria also has amazing food, bar gardens, museums, coffee shops, lounges. Anywhere between Ditmars and 36th ave north to south and 21st to 46th street west to east is excellent. Astoria is only 10 minutes to Midtown by train. It shouldn't be a problem getting a 2br for $3500 there.

Also, Ditmars, 30th ave, Broadway and Steinway streets are the main hubs in Astoria. So try to find a place near the trains on any of those streets.
Yes, that def exist. Yea it’s horrible right now. (Be prepared to lay down $10-$20k between security deposit, brokers fee and 1st months rent)
But welcome to NY!

Yeah. Downside of Astoria is you really need a local broker/scumbag to take 1.5 months rent from you for showing you an apartment. Advantage is they actually have listings you can’t find otherwise, making them slightly less scumbag and more broker. But they will run all the standard cash/deposit/venmo scams right out of a Coldwell banker office. So beware.
This seems pretty doable if you drop 2 out of the 3 amenities (elevator, DW, W/D). Not having a W/D seems really scary coming from other places, but you get used to it pretty quickly :) just make sure you’re close to a laundromat. You can always do wash and fold service instead of moving things between machines
Ooh…tough. You could get that with covid deals but no longer. I’d say you’re looking at 4500+.
Got it, thank you guys! And tbh we are open to maybe up to $4K/month but we’d really want it to be the right place for us at that price …
Check out Astoria new builds by the water. You should find something in that range there + they’re filled with amenities and have an easy commute into Manhattan by the ferry.
You can get one of those for 5500 in green point / Astoria, both are still very fun neighborhoods.
Lose the WD and call your closet a flex BR = maybe
Unlikely! I’m paying 3125 for everything on your list - the elevator in Clinton Hill but it was a late Covid deal/unlikely to in for <3500 unless you’re going beyond the park in Brooklyn
I 💚 Clinton Hill
check Elmhurst area in Queens, or surrounding.
Whatever the cost, highly recommend moving to the city! It’s the best thing I ever did personally and professionally. Go for it!
