Do you want to stay at your firm? As a partner billing 2000? At my firm associates bill 1850 and partners only have to bill 1650 but they have non-billable responsibilities as well. It just sounds like as a partner you probably have experience and skills that would enable you to find work that doesn’t require billing 2000 at your level and worrying about bringing in more money for the firm when you’re stuck doing flat-fee work.
So I’m definitely looking at making a move. I’m tired of the flat fee BS and getting screwed on bonuses and having to work harder to achieve profitability goals because of my flat fee load. I’m curious what the comp is for partners at your firm.
Why not track your hours like they’re billable and ask your partner to count those hours like billables because they’ve essentially been written off under their flat fee model
So I do track the hours. I’ve gone to them on this precise issue and I’ve been given a well we are looking at this issue. 8 months later nothing.
Is simply billing less not an option?
So at the end of the day it’s what is needed to keep the cases in good shape.
