Any BOS big law taking first- year corp lateral?
I agree, this is annoying.
In one of my past lives before law school, I worked as an executive assistant for a very important person in the music industry. He was crazy busy and had a hair trigger temper. It finally clicked for me when I got absolute cussed out on the phone because of a power outage in a neighboring town (what am I, God?) that this is just what he did. He was stressed over a million things and I was the nearest dog to kick.
Now, I’m not saying it’s right. And I’m not saying it’s a good way to manage. But it’s helped keep things in perspective for me in this job when a partner (who I know to be insanely busy) gets annoyed with me over something like this. It’s almost NEVER about me, and that’s helpful to remind myself.
I definitely came to that realization at some point. Actually, it’s a realization I have frequently, repeatedly, whenever I start to feel down on myself because a higher up was mean in my direction. Whatever is causing the issue is rarely about me.
But it’s annoying as all heck.
