Partners in BIG 4: How is your leadership reacting to location changes requested by partners? My firm is struggling to keep the people back in major cities as partners wants to move to sunny areas with no taxes. I can see both sides of the argument but trying to figure where we are likely to land.

Let people live where they want to live. They’re responsible for seeing their clients and people either way. You want to live where they’re not, you better be on a plane a lot.

P1 nailed. Equity partners already have a shitty deal with taxes so if someone doesn’t want to pay NYC taxes and instead live in Texas while supporting clients effectively then let them.

Why is it an issue. We get on planes for a living and have proven without a shadow of a doubt, "we can sell over zoom."

It’s a non issue . Most of us as multi million milers to begin with .

Probably depends on SL. In consulting it would be pretty rare to find one who isn’t… sometimes even on multiple airlines!

Not seen much partner movement yet. They are limiting staff moves until ‘they have a better picture of the Covid effect’ - as many of the staff leave 🤦

Oh but there is.

They are still trying to figure it out but it’s on the radar for the reasons you’ve mentioned, and where as hypothetically it shouldn’t matter, at some point it does. Building relationships in a non-covid world is easier in person for most. Building them through an extended network of daily activities like kids in the same school, golfing at the same club, being on the board of the same place in the same city, etc happens and sometimes those natural connections are more impactful. I think the challenge is none of us can quantify how much of that actually happens and the impact it may have.

Partners are going too need to be in the major offices to get staff back into the office. I absolutely think it matters where they are located. Travel is not going to look the same.

Shall I consider pwc as It's a part of BIG 4 and other facilities and brand-value or capegemini/Cerner india (the pay scale will be higher most probably) Thanks in advance.

Once I complete my degree, I hope to join either McKinsey, Bain or BCG as a generalist. I will have 4YE working as a (non-strat) analyst. As I see it, my greatest obstacle will be getting an interview given my lack of a prestigious education/good upbringing. Grateful for any insights on how I can maximise my chances/if I have a chance at all.
