Contemplating move from EY to KPMG. Would appreciate someone pointing out the benefits difference - PTO for Manager level - Sick leave? - Paternity leave - Do you have to use PTO for the summer and winter holiday shutdown? - Any wellness $$? - Any cellphone and Internet reimbursement? Also, I've heard about a pension plan Anything else KPMG offers?
How do you guys start over in terms of saving for future and building emergency fund? Lost around $200k trading options during pandemic. Have ~$50k in 401K and ~$20k CC debt.
Just curious, in the 25-28 year old age range what is net worth? I know there was already a similar question to this on here but that was by job level. Also how much are you investing annually? I feel like I might not be investing as much as I should be even though I’m not doing bad.
With the extended student loan freeze, I’ll find myself with $20k more this year since I won’t be urgently paying the loan. How should I use this ‘excess’ money? Don’t want to max out the 401k because it locks up my $$ until I’m 55.
Recently inherited ~$5m and finding it very hard to focus on my career. Seems like anything I save is pennies - any ideas on staying motivated?
Advice needed! I am currently in a toxic work environment making $60k (commission structure is okay, no 401k match, in office 4 days/week and 10 days PTO), I am in the final rounds for a role at an awesome company with great culture and upward mobility, but the pay is $55k (equity, uncapped commission, remote, and unlimited PTO). I think I would love the role, and I’m sure the total comp with equity and commission would be very similar to my current role, but I am still hung up the lower salary
Roth 401k or traditional 401k?
Are 401k’s really worth investing in these days? What are the % returns you guys have been seeing for the last few years? For those that have been working before 2008, how much of an impact did the housing crash have on 401k and how much did the recent COVID pandemic affect it?
I don’t want to be a teacher anymore. The only thing that pulls me back is the kids, but I spend my time crying and have developed issues mentally and physically from stress. I worked hard for my teaching degree. But I just feel like I can’t do this anymore. What should I do? What would you do?
Looking for investment ideas: investing in 401K, bit of mutual funds, stocks but don’t feel like it’s enough. What are some other ways doubling up?
Anyone who got into an M7 and can shed more clarity on need-based aid? If you have to self-report assets on the FAFSA and that determines aid, shouldn’t the move be to live more comfortably before attending? H/S are more transparent about this, but no idea where the rest of M7 stand. If anyone can share their liquid and illiquid (401K, etc.) net worths and aid packages, that would also be so helpful!
For folks who moved from US to Canada how did you deal with financial assets when moving from US to Canada? I eventually want to return to US. I have a 401k/Roth IRA/HSA/Brokerage Account/Savings Account/Checking Account. I don't want to bring all my finances to Canada. I'm a foreign national in the US. Ideally I want to have a setup where I can draw from my funds in US to CA on a need basis. But how do you make sure not paying extra when dealing with currency exchange?
Has anyone ever taken out a 401K loan to pay off student loans? Thought is to take the student loan payment savings and put back into 401K...
FYI - you should still get 401k match from your old company if you leave in first few months of new year. Heard differently on this app, but left B4 in Jan and still got employer match in Feb for 2019
Liking this, this morning. “The answer is you do not retire from something. You retire to something,” said Tripp. “And your life will continue with any luck.” That’s exactly what Tripp — who has had multiple careers, including as a radio news broadcaster, an advertising executive and a businessman — has been doing. Though, for the record, he considers himself “semi-retired,” according to a promotional interview he did with his publicist.” https://www.cnbc.com/2019/12/13/how-to-live-a-happy-life-102-year-old-who-just-released-1st-album.html?__source=facebook%7Cmain
Is having £200k in a UK pension good enough?
Recently started at work, have ~19k in 401K and 25k “emergency fund” sitting in checking. It’s time to shift this fund over to something that generates returns - do you recommend HYSAs or index funds?
Returning to India from US. I have a fidelity account with investment in stocks and 401k. Does anyone know if I can still invest in US stocks using the US account?
How do taxes on your 401k work when you retire? People say if you make less money do roth 401 bc youll be in a higher tax bracket later on. But what if a year before I retire and take out 401k money

Jumping off the question on nonprofit consulting, anyone from the Bridgespan Group on here? I'd love to hear about project work/overall feelings towards the company
My college friends just posted pic of a Boeing 777 plane he bought for his fresh delivery business. He was in the same major as me and he is 25
Let's do a poll here and see what us consultants think. Trump, Clinton, Johnson. Click up votes below !
Girl on my project picks whatever airline is cheapest every week. Does she think whoever saves the firm the most money gets an award?
I am scared. Scared to go to a client site in a trump-voting town. Scared because of my brown skin. Scared of prejudices the immigration officer may hold. This cannot be good for our productivity!
Im in the final round of interviews at VMware and news came on Monday that they are being acquired by Broadcom. Is this something that I should be concerned about? I know layoffs can happen after a merger/acquisition but there’s not much overlap between the two companies (chipmaker vs cloud infrastructure). My job will be a Sr Business Analyst role in internal strategy/improvement Any advice from folks experienced in M&A?
What was your consulting starting salary/year? Undergrad hire, experienced hire, or MBA?
For those that exit consulting for the “Project Manager” role at Meta to work on Product Data Operations, what’s their career trajectory? As in, where would you try to go to next? Just curious as I’ve seen some exit to this role. Thanks! Facebook (Meta)
How much do Manager role at a big bank in Technology make in Chicago/new york? Looking for the range to get an idea of moving from consulting to industry. Any advice will help. 6 years experience.
Told my mom my flight is diverted and I'm stranded in a random airport with a coworker and she just asked if he's single...🙄
ACN folks, what are the pros and cons of TC vs MC? I'm in TC at the moment and have been thinking about switching to MC as my skills are more relevant there.
