I can only speak about my reasons for staying to make MD. I love the flexibility that the role allows me ( eg, the time I get to spend with my kids in the work day) and that I still get to learn and grow in my career. I make a good salary but have a balance without too many hours and have lots of flexibility.

What type of MD were you? I saw 0 flexibility in public accounting. Yea you could work from wherever, but you had to work 14 hours a day to be on track. If you didn’t work 14 hours a day, you fell behind.

It probably depends on your department and service line. I work about 50 hours most weeks, but am able to take all of my vacation and miss time in the day for stuff with my kids. I don’t have a sales goal so that probably helps.
