Partners, when you identified a minor error from a deliverable that was reviewed by SA and manager. Do you mostly get upset/disappointed at the manager, SA or the associate?

If you want to last in this business and have people who want to work with you then you have to start from empathy.

Did I review it too? And how important was it? If not important, then not very upset with anyone unless I didn’t think they were doing their best. If it’s important then I should have found it. But then I would expect the same of the Senior Manager to be most angry at themselves before having any disappointment for their teams.

No deliverable is perfect. There were deliverables I thought was perfect and the clients love, and then suddenly while using them as templates, I spotted error

like

It depends how easy it would have been to spot and how important it is. But at the end of the day, no deliverable will ever be flawless and there is really nobody to blame for that, we are human and make mistakes! I’ve had a few instances where pretty big mistakes were made, but as P1 said, it ultimately is my responsibility to catch them before they go to the client.

like

Minor error prob not mad at anyone. As mentioned above mistakes happen and can’t get too fussed about them. Major error (obv wrong answer on a page) then there’s a question to all of the above on whether they are sanity checking results, etc. I somewhat disagree with above - while I def check stuff, I don’t think major errors should make it to me so I am surprised if they don’t get caught earlier in the chain

Is it really even an error or a stylistic judgement. If it is a content error, then have you communicated the correct issue ahead of time?

While yes this can be frustrating, if you're a bullets with periods Nazi then you should realize that business grammar is different in different parts of the country let alone the world.

Grammar errors are different than data errors. Data errors should not make it to the partner

I am wondering if the CCMC is worth it when it comes to case management positions? I have done case management for 6 years but I am not certified. I find that when I apply to case management positions that don’t require the CCMC I am either overlooked with my experience or I make it to an interview but not selected. I’m debating on whether the 8 weeks of class and $1000 cost is worth it when it comes down to being selected?

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

I’m really good at the work I do, but really bad at selling myself and always look like I do less than those who talk better even when I put in more hours. It sucks

I have a good relationship with my Practice Leader, and they’ve put me up for Partner this year (🤞). But I have a competing, higher-comp, offer for direct admit Partner at another, larger firm. Tbh, I’m thinking about it. Should I discuss with my Practice Leader?

I’m probably not going to use it for leverage, as I think that’d sour things, but want to make it known - if there any doubts - that I have options elsewhere. Should I leak it to a different Partner that I am considering this offer?

Partners and All, went through this thread and there are questions on titles and comp. is there a way we can create one post and pin it, so the questions here will be focussed on non-comp. (contd)

There's a huge perception from the staff levels that promotions are largely a popularity contest. Perhaps this is a lack of transparency in the process or just burnt staff. Is there truth to this?
