Pizza parties

likefunny

But pizza parties make you eat carbs which give you a sense of happiness at the time while making you fatter later and this lowers your self esteem and makes you less likely to leave because you lack the confidence of such a move since you gained the weight and doubt yourself.

Tell us we should be “grateful” for the opportunity to serve clients. They act like we sit there just licking our chops to work more.

Employee retention is not nearly as big an issue with the economy in or close to recession. Firms are probably looking for a bit more attrition, not less.

EY 2 - I would think margins are lower because we have senior managers, directors and partners doing the work of staff and seniors due to insufficient employee numbers. I don’t think we just have too many, we have too few at the right levels making leverage difficult to impossible. Seniors are still ‘cheap’ compared to having a director prepping returns or work papers. Once you can higher up, there are only so many industry jobs, even during covid.

Maybe some cheap swag, like a beer coozie or ballpoint pen. But only for people that come into the office.

likefunny

But how would this make even slightest impact on retention? A pen? Lmao

Too many to name. My firm is pushing down the programs to be administered by the local offices to try to build personal relationships

I’m not sure if they have a long term initiative to retain employees, temporarily they are increasing salaries and trying to hire more employees. My understanding is that they are weathering this situation and hoping to get back to the old business model.

Looking for advice. I'm a tax manager that worked at both Big 4 and mid-tier in expat/mobility tax. I want to move away from tax compliance and more into technology. I currently use Excel and VBA for automating processes, and are taking beginner coding classes (Python, intro to programming). What career path do I have? I thought about quitting to do a bootcamp and work as a software developer, but is it too risky? Perhaps I can blend my tax experience and "coding" skills and do tax technology?
