Back in the day when the HR office was called the personnel office someone was rude to me and my coworker said — don’t take it personal we’re just personnel. They aren’t mad at you they’re mad at the problem. That has always stuck with me whenever I encounter a not so nice person.

Take opportunities when they come up! Do not be scared, or talk yourself out of something that could change your life. You CAN do it and you DO deserve it.

I would recommend sharpening your tool set. Being able to quickly fill any position needed creates your value to a company. Among the many courses I have taken over 45 years as a recruiter, Social Talent was a game changer. Besides the normal professional selling skills, being able to understand and how to skillfully use technology makes you a sought after Headhunter. Companies covet someone who can be counted on to bring in high level results day in and day out.

How did you take the social talent course? The only individual one I can find is about $1000.

In my experience men negotiate a whole lot harder than women. Those who negotiate also increase their value It never hurts to give it a go, if you know you are a preferred candidate. Most manage to nudge up at least 5% from the original

Focus on developing meaningful rapport with your peers not just your boss. It’s your peers who will recommend you or not for a role in the future.

Look at your paycheck stub - and let me know where it says how much you get paid to have your feelings hurt at work. You don’t. So don’t give that service away for free.

Don't eat the yellow snow! JK! Focus on what you can control otherwise you will drive yourself mad.

They were so excited to hire me and now I might leave them. Help

Are you incoming staff 1? What’s your starting salary for your city and service line? I’m really skeptical that firms will be paying those of us that progressed less than incoming staff just out of my own experience where I came in as staff 1 earning more than the staff 2 when I started for the same service line.
